Windscreen replacement. New covid policy?

Just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience of this.
Partner's car has badly cracked windscreen. She phones insurer who pass her on to Autoglass. Autoglass advise that the car will have to be brought to their depot (40 miles away) and the repair done there. She will have to leave the site whilst the replacement is carried out. It's in the middle of an industrial estate!
Now, anytime I've needed a new windscreen the van invariably comes to you. They might sometimes ask if the customer's vehicle can be under cover for the job taking place, but that's about all.
Cynical me thinks Autoglass are using the Covid crisis to save money by forcing the customer to come to them rather than vice versa.

I believe some fitting has to be done indoors. Something to do with the temperature requirements of the adhesive used.

is it anything to do with having to recalibrate any cameras or sensors.
I have had dozens of new windscreens over the past 18 years and never had to go to a depot though.0 -
Go elsewhere. Auto glass vans are still driving around, most have their own canopies built in. Its extremely easy to social distance and get a screen fitted. Just leave the geezer to it.0

How are you destroying so many windscreens?!1 -
I've got a lane departure system on my car which has to be recalibrated when the windscreen is replaced - can only be done at a depot, not by a mobile fitter. I had to make sure the car's had a full tank of fuel. Real pain as I don't even use that function - but has to be recalibrated in order to claim on insurance.
