Just read your diary from the start. Amazing progress with your overpayment so far.

Sorry to read about work difficulties though, hope things get better soon

Thanks @bellevie and MF. I’ve bought the balance down by another £200 this month. Would have like £350 to stay on my 7 year target but there will be plenty of time to claw back some of this time over the next 7 years.

the interview wasn’t even an interview really just going through the admin stuff for me to register with the agency so I’ve sent off for the dbs. It would be lovely if I could get on before Christmas as they do next day payments which would definitely save my skin.

Hoping to get DP on the lorries but that’s a bit of an investment that we just don’t have right now. He’s got the provisional then he needs to do 3 theory tests (£60) then the course is about £1300. It’s a shame because if he could do it ASAP there are jobs for him and it pays as good as or better than my Nursing but I need to be sensible and keep the funds for January’s bills.

    Xx

Loads of time to claw back your years, a lot can change over the next few weeks.

That's agency interviews, nothing like job ones and DP can get sorted out next year 🤗

That's great news!!! What a relief that must be.

Could be good to keep on agency books though for a few shifts when you need them

Thanks both of you. I need to meet with manager and arrange a ‘supported’ return which I’ll benefit from after 2 months out the loop but hopefully be working next week. And I will still go with the agency to ensure all my eggs aren’t in the one basket x

Has it been that long already 😮 the supported returns are good and take them up on any other training, refreshers or whatever else they offer. It will boost your confidence again x

If you can, do a couple of shifts with the agency each month, spread those eggs about!

I’m back in work on Wednesday 😃 I’ve never been so excited to work. It means I’ll have 2 weeks of no pay then will get paid for this week on xmas eve so I will actually have money just in time for January’s mortgage.

I’m gonna bladder work in January and hopefully be straight by the beginning of February when I can start an emergency fund (I’ll aim for £1,000 to start with as that covers 2 months non negotiable essentials). Having 9 weeks of SSP has bought my earnings down significantly to what I said for my tax credits which gives me some leeway to do a bit extra before April to stay in the same bracket.

I also joined the 2021 MFW challenge with a goal of £6,000 but I’m gonna have to come up with a strategy for next year. Probably going to save up lump sums of £2000 then pay off so I don’t leave myself short xx

I forgot about my help2save account so I’ll count that as the start of the emergency fund. I lowered the payment to £1 a week when I stopped work but as soon as January comes I’ll increase that to £10 a week. I have an isa with nothing in so I’ll probably put £200 a week in that for the mortgage lump sums.

It looks like I’ve been reckless with money but I spent 3 years paying off old debts/bills, 1.5 years saving for deposit and house buying fees then only had 6 weeks of home ownership before I stopped working so I am thinking of January as my starting point to financial success. X
