Yeah you are right about the toilet. We would be putting a 2nd loo at the bottom of the stairs in current bedroom 3 mainly to reduce cost of getting plumbing upstairs in the short term anyway. The houses we grew up in were large mid terraced with the toilet at the back of the middle floor and we survived! I would like a 2nd loo as that’s the main fight of a morning. DP hogs the loo when all the kids need to brush their teeth 🤯
She made a fortune on that chateau or mansion, she sold that to fund the build she’s doing now I think.Mortgage started August 2020 £69,700

Hello dairy! Well I just got a phonecall of the recruitment woman for that new job and it’s only blooming fallen through due to the same reason I was off work September to December. I’m really annoyed as they were aware of it from day one when I applied and it apparently wasn’t a problem but now they’ve said it’s too recent. The most annoying thing was going through all the application rubbish over xmas because she was harassing me.On the bright side I’ve still got my current job and can carry on as I am. I won’t lose my tax credits and won’t have extra outgoings such as city centre parking and wraparound school clubs which would have all made me worse off financially anyway so in a way it’s a weight off. I also get to retain my flexibility for when we want to do the loft so I’m glad In a way. I only wanted the job as a new challenge/ learning opportunity.Financially I’ve paid off the xmas catalogue (and now I’m not gonna be getting another £500 on a pc 😊) got the 0% on the credit card to pay off and just trying to build up some funds to start the loft. Still got the £20 weekly going to emergency fund. We’ve broken the loft down to 3 phases for basic diy so phase one will be £1500, 2 will need £2,000 and 3 will cost as much as we have but minimum £3,000. We need enough money for 1 & 2 before we start anything as these will give us an accessible safe floor space move the boiler and install basic electric. Phase 3 can be done at a slower pace bit by bit.I think that’s it for today. Ooh I accidentally paid £7.99 kindle books as DD1 free trial auto renewed so now I’ve got to read £8 worth of books this month! I’m already on chapter 13 of my first one since last night! Oh that is really annoying, especially as they knew and it wasn't hidden from them!
It's great you've found the positive side from it and can carry on with your current role. Something better will come along when it's the right time.
Well done clearing the catalogue debt.
Loft budget looks good, cost every phase up and stick carefully to it.
Books are a wonderful way of unwinding and having some you time.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1 -
Thanks @MovingForwards yeah it is what it is... I’m happy as I am now anyway so probably a blessing!Yeah I’ve costed up stage one and 2 materials and allowed a couple of hundred extra for bits I’ve forgotten so should deffo be able to stick to those budgets. I want to have a meticulous plan prior to starting as A I don’t want a bodge job and B I can’t deal with the stress of bickering as things go wrong if it can be avoided. I’m a bit snookered at the minute as it’s the end of the tax year so gonna stick to just a Sunday a wee in then come April I’ll do extra and be able to save bigger chunks.I’ve just put the £800 into the kids savings accounts as they pay 1.44% interest monthly compared to mine which is 0.02% annually. I have got £1000 but as it’s the end of the month direct debits I’ve kept back £200 rather than fall into the overdraft accidentally. XxMortgage started August 2020 £69,700

In your picture, do you reach the top of the stairs and walk into the wall of the bedroom? Or am I looking at it wrong?
Id like a loft conversion but my loft is only a metre tall!1 -
There's better interest rate paying accounts around, my top ones are 2% and 3% others pay .50 and .75%, it's worth a quick look around.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2

Yeah I need to get a stair company to give me quotes for the stairs. Leaving that bit to professionals lol.I’ve told work I’d like a permanent contract with them now. It gives me security and sick and holiday pay. The matron replied straight away and said ‘about time’ so hopefully get set up soon enough not that I’m in a rush but I do need that job security when I’m the sole breadwinner.
