Back and forth to Spain

I think it would be very odd for someone just to come for a few days when they have to spend the whole time in self isolation - they must be coming for a purpose and unless that purpose is 4-5 days of uninterrupted housework then why travel at all? They can't nip out to do anything else1

He has to pop back for a couple of days on business. Flights are less than £50 return. We can go shopping no problem! Thanksyksi said:Ok, so it's good that we know that - I guess it's a "transit" exemption? But now the question is why would your friend want to come "home" for six days then leave again to go back to the same place? They can't even go to the shop for bread and milk. I can't be the only one thinking it's a waste of time and money and tbh a kerfuffle most people would rather do without!

self isolation means no contact with anybody during that time. So no contact with you and no contact with business colleaguesflyer said:

Who is 'we'..?
What kind of business can be carried out while in isolation that cannot be done remotely from Spain..?
Shopping..?Evolution, not revolution0 -
"We can go shopping no problem!"Which bit of self isolation am I not understanding ?1

Food and essential supply shopping is allowed if there is nobody else who can shop for you.NoodleDoodleMan said:"We can go shopping no problem!"Which bit of self isolation am I not understanding ?
The bit you are not understanding is that the half-assed 'quarantine' we have in the UK, it is not the same as quarantine, there are not enough resources to even begin to check that the majority of people are adhering to the rules.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear2 -
Presumably the UK based half of "we" can shop alone for essentials without the other half compromising self isolation ?The lack of manpower to police the situation is a separate issue, and I fully understand the limitaions.0

I understood from the OP that the friend is intending to come to stay with them. Surely joining a household is not self-isolating?

Ok. Maybe I've caused a bit of confusion. I've been here in Spain for the last 8 weeks, coming home in maybe 2 weeks. My mate was here for a few days but leaves tomorrow as he has to physically sign some documents and then intends coming back Saturday for a week. There is no total lockdown here (although it's getting worse) so I can still go shopping etc. Hope that helpsEven if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.0
