Until you get one and then you will wonder how you managed without it!Carl2510 said:
I’m not basing it off a dishwasher, I just know we will have the option to get one and wondered if there is any point due to there being two of us obviously maybe a family down the line, but right now just can’t see it getting any use.RelievedSheff said:
Is a dishwasher or lack of really going to be a deal breaker?Carl2510 said:
We are quite lucky In the fact the girlfriends dad is a plasterer and tiler so we would be getting him to fit the tiles we would just need to buy them.Scotbot said:
At the same price tiles but it's aesthetics as both are functional and easy to clean. However unlikely to be the same price as laying tiles takes a lot longer. If you are being offered the same I would be suspicious about the quality of the tiles.Carl2510 said:What’s people’s opinions on flooring for the kitchen and bathrooms if you had the choice at the same price Vinyl or Tiles?
also thoughts on dishwasher??
i want one but then I think well will I use it a lot, and does that mean I’d have to buy more plates cutlery glasses etc
We have one but purely because the kitchen had a space left to install one. If the space wasn't there we probably wouldn't have bothered. It gets used once a week on a Sunday after we have had Sunday dinner. The rest of the time it sits idle, unless we have people stay over.
You need to choose a house for it's location and layout not if it has a dishwasher!!2 -

Depends which one you get. If it is anything like ours by the time you have played crockery jenga several times to get everything to fit inside it you would have been much quicker washing them by hand!!Scotbot said:

Here’s one for you all, you like a layout you’ve seen pics seen floor plans but not actually viewed it in person would you ever commit talking new build here as most ones that are built you can obviously go see them.0

No.
I would want to at least walk around a property that is the same house type first before committing. You can't get a feel for how a house flows from plans, you need to view it in person.2 -
I have a dishwasher in the place I rent. It was brand new over two years ago. I haven't used it once! Makes a good pan store though. Loading and unloading them is a chore I can't abide. And you always need something that's still dirty.0

Tiles, don't like lino.
Never wanted a dishwasher, can do it quite quickly by hand.
Floor plans are good as a starting point, but you need to get a feel for how the rooms work, whether the windows / doors and other fixed objects.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0 -
We have been lucky tiles are down and none of them have broken yet.GDB2222 said:

We use our dishwasher all the time.
We try to be careful with the heavy cast iron pans.
Lost a few plate and glasses but they are easier to replace than a cracked tile.1 -
Can soon fill a dishwasher with just 2.
We stick everything in including reusable storage containers for freezer like takeaways.
once you have a pattern there is very little adjustment
You are getting a decent sized freezer so you can max out reduced shopping.

Never. There is no guarantee that the plans will be the same by the time they've finished building.Carl2510 said:Here’s one for you all, you like a layout you’ve seen pics seen floor plans but not actually viewed it in person would you ever commit talking new build here as most ones that are built you can obviously go see them.
There are regular threads here from irate purchasers who didn't realise this and bought off-plan, only to find out too late that the actual layout wasn't what they thought they'd paid for.0
