They replied to the second letter about two weeks after the due date saying they would come out to fix the ‘snags’ but would expect full payment the same day. However between sending the letter and getting their (late) response we found out about the further issue with the oil pipe/filter/heating. They also still will not resolve the initial issue of the thousands of pounds of slabs being laid wrong in the first place and refuse to rectify that
That was 3 months ago. Why drag this issue out so much?
You've seeked legal advice, send a LBA and follow through.

  • It’s taken us a long time to get the boiler issue resolved

Im not sure what the next steps are now - even though they responded to say they would come back out (albeit after the deadline was passed) so we have to let them? Or can I go ahead with getting another company to rectify the work and pay them instead (we haven’t paid any money to the original company)?

As a follow up from this now, we sent a final letter detailing all the issues and stating that we wanted all of it resolved and sorted and a date within a reasonable time for them to come and they responded by sending a letter saying they would come and fix 4 snags, ignored the issue of the patio entirely and gave a date saying they expected full payment in that day. They responded to the letter I sent late, for the second time, having ignored the first one completely

am I now within my rights to just pay someone else to do it? I don’t trust them to do the job properly now anyway given how much what they have done has deteriorated in a year
