Presumably they have a stock of Visa ones they have to use up first before they will issue the Mastercards.0

No. Cards come from card production facility and are printed as required.MDMD said:Presumably they have a stock of Visa ones they have to use up first before they will issue the Mastercards.
My understanding, from friends, is that FD are still running trials on Mastercard with their staff to ensure systems are working correctly.Life in the slow lane2 -
They told me last week that they're planning to start issuing debit Mastercards in April 2021.0

Hopefully they won’t drag it out as long as Santander have 😂Zellah said:They told me last week that they're planning to start issuing debit Mastercards in April 2021.0 -
Don't bank on it. Remote working is making life hell with major changes like this.jackjones01 said:

Banks need to ensure that the new systems are working as they should before any general public release after the issues of 2020.Life in the slow lane0 -

Out of interest how does remote working make such changes a pain? Is it all of the legacy technology which must be integrated but only available onsite?born_again said:

Am surprised they are doing it all again - I can remember when I joined FD umpteen years ago they shortly went through the switching to Visa phase. Bonus points if anyone gets the reference I have slung in. There must be a lot of money paid from M/C to change from one card scheme to another, can't be cheap to integrate.

It's not just a case of intergrating systems.username said:

Visa & Mastercard have their own systems to do tasks (fraud & disputes) especially. They are not interchangeable, so whole departments have to learn to use new systems.
Online/zoom learning can only do so much. So some people find it really hard to learn. Before they would have been sat with someone who was good on the system to help them. Not as easy remotely.
Mastercard are paying the costs for the change over + a sweetner. So at a guess you are talking millions per bank, given the systems, training etc.
When we switched to Visa, it was 2 weeks in the classroom to learn the disputes side. Given Maestro only had 3 chargebacks...Life in the slow lane2 -
Wasn’t it Switch > Maestro > Visa Debit ?MDMD said:
