You could go for Newbiggin by the sea which is along the coast from Blyth and is a lovely place.
Your budget should get you a seafront house.
I live in Woodhorn, Ashington which is 10 mins by cycle to Newbiggin with a great cycle track between the 2.

We moved from Gateshead to Northumberland last year, I work across the whole of Northumberland and know it very well. You really need to come and stay and tour around so you get a feel for each area. For example, the Blyth/Newbiggin area I dont find nice or attractive but some people like it as it's close to some beaches and urban areas. The coast north of there is lovely but pricey. We upped our budget from £250k to £300k for a 3 bed to get what we wanted, inland too which is usually less expensive. As had been said before the infrastructure can be ropey so you might need to decide on your priorities. Some of Northumberland closer to the north Tyneside areas can be a bit dodgy but pretty cheap.0

Getting a teaching job in West Wales without Welsh language ability will be difficult. In the south and border areas many schools won't care, particularly for a shortage subject like secondary science0
