Morning allSince March I have ventured into a supermarket twice Purps, and it isn't pleasant, even when there are few people in there. Although I had the government shielding letter etc I had no luck with supermarket deliveries for a while, their system didn't seem to recognise me and the helplines were impossible to access. But various other businesses started to offer deliveries (wholesalers, pubs that temporarily became 'farm shops', etc), so I used them. I had lovely fruit and veg boxes, and could get bulk flour
Then managed to get As*a (not easy, had to book 2-3 weeks in advance) and Icyland deliveries (easy), so I have mainly stuck with those. As*a deliveries are easier to come by now. But these supermarkets don't stock / deliver everything I want, hence the 2 recent sorties to Mr S. I will still mainly stick with deliveries from the 2 supermarkets who have offered me a service when others wouldn't, even though they probably should have done. I was never an As*a customer before, but I am now! And I will still buy meat from the fab local butchers, who also delivered, and bulk flour from the wholesalers if they are still prepared to sell it to me.
Just sent a photo of a recipe for runner bean chutney to DD2, who texted to ask for it. Tried to send a cake recipe promised to DD1, but the print was too faint and my fairly rubbish phone camera didn't do a good job, so I sat and copied it out to send in a letter with a free RM surveys stampApart from the usual early morning dog walk, and picking a few raspberries for breakfast, I haven't done much else yet. Still to do (boring list alert):
Wipe and label jars of jam I made yesterday using fruit from the freezer (raspberry and loganberry, yum) and put them away.Make fishcakes for dinner (meant to do yesterday but did jam instead)Usual bathroom and kitchen clean up etcPick anything ready in the garden, water where needed etcDentist this afternoon - still feeling uneasy about this, but will go. They are very good, so I am sure it will be fine.Think about dinner for tomorrow, as I am working all day in the shop (strangely I am less nervous about this, as I feel I have more control over the environment - work with 1 other person whom I know well, we only allow 2 customers in at a time, masks, can have front and back doors open for air flow etc). This may be totally illogical, but the way we think isn't always logical, is it, especially given the current situation.4 -
Morning folks
@DawnW - I hope all goes well today. i know what you mean about feeling ok about some places and not about others. I'm not keen on the shops apart from the local butcher and the deli.
Nothing really to report. Had a sudden surprise repeat house inspection on Tuesday. Nothing that we'd done - the young lad they sent to do it hadn't done a proper job (didn't photo the water damage from the storm and didn't visit the garden amongst other things) and apparently the LL wasn't pleased about it. Hopefully nothing wrong. LA seemed happy enough but I get very worked up about these things.
Nothing really to report today. Easy day in work today as it's file QC and copy & pasting! Then up to the allotment later for another trug of stuff. Our courgettes don't seem to be producing at the moment. Maybe too many dull days. I lobbed a bit of compost round them last week to see if they perk up at all. They are a bit close together.
Have a good one all

Afternoon all, not many updates this week! Not much saving either - I went a bit ebay crazy buying 'new' clothes for a funeral, and that plus the trip to see my folks (which involved a hotel as they cannot put us up) and some school items cost a small fortune. BUT the money was cash not credit card so that's something. 7 months with nothing added to cards (except interest, grr. One of my cards has just massively increased their interest but there's nothing I can do about it BOO).
So I can't really list my MS things for the week as I have not been very MS. But I have- -planned a supermarket shop and got loads for the money
- -planned meals around that
- -not gone out and bought actual new clothes
- -free exercise walking the dog as per
- -general frugality around light switches, not using hairdryer, not filling kettle. All good habits. :-)
Anyone else wondering about how to plan for a possible second lockdown (or you might be already in one) and how trying to be debt-free clashes with need to cling onto money in case of job loss-?

Evening all,
Today in the way of small things....
Checked banking, updated cashbook
Checked CC to see if holiday refund was back yet.... not yet
All meals from stores
Home schooling done (ds2 isn't enjoying the maths work at the minute but I'm learning stuff!)
Cut up used paper to make a little note pad
Prepped rm survey
Filled in a form and used a rm survey stamp to post it
Walked for free exercise (also had the new treadmill deliveredthis has been bought using the part of the money we're being refunded for our holiday)
Edited food click and collect for tomorrow - ds2's birthday and he's changed what he'd like for his birthday meal.
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

I'm either posting really early or really late these days!
Awake at daft o'clock again - seems to be something waking me at 4am ish.
I've been productive though so won't complain.
So far I've
✔checked banking/updated cashbook
✔ gathered together interest info ready to get my tax return sorted next week (and I've finally managed to verify myself on hmrc site!! 😜)
✔ transferred some money to ds2 from his grandparents and us for his birthday - no more daft gifts/plastic tat that he loses interest in after an hour 😜😊
Other then that I plan to
❤ Post rm survey - will also give me a decent walk out first thing. ✔
❤ Wash a load on the quick wash ✔ and hang out to dry
❤ Lunch will be the leftover leek and potato soup and bread
❤ Pick up Click and Collect from Mr T - must remember this as its not my "new normal" shopping day
❤ Put some fuel in the car, we've been sent a £15 fuel card for getting dh's car serviced/mot'd before the end of July (I should get one through for my car too)
❤ Prep veggies for tonights meal, birthday boy wants meat pie, mash, veg and gravy so I better do some exercise and earn some calories as its also chocolate fudge cake and icecream instead of a birthday cake!
❤ Put together the new treadmill
❤ Settle down with some plain popcorn (how I love the microwave popcorn maker thingy!) and the family to watch a movie from our stash tonight.
That is it for me. Have a great day all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

That is annoying @ziggy2407, 2nd time they've let you down isn't it? Is it someone you've used before? Anyway I hope you get sorted quickly.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Make some B'day cards - have a vague plan to make all cards for the year, just to make it a bit more personal but I guess I could start with making them for the month.
Not spend any money today, invested in bottle of gin for friends yesterday, so feel I have blown the budget, but we had a lovely evening and really didn't drink a lot of it. So will now need to hide it until next time I have people over.
Lunch will be salad and eggs.
Dinner will be black bean chili - I'll try to make some fresh salsa with it as well.perfect for the weather.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%
