What small DFW things will you do, week commencing 03/08/20?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning all,
It seems so strange typing in August!! I'm still mentally in March but I'm sure this week August will sink in as its Ds2's 12th birthday at the end of the week so I think he'll spend a fair bit of the week reminding me of the date!
Unfortunately I've been awake since about 4am and downstairs since about 5am, busy mind so I'm up and making my to-do list ready for the day ahead.
My plans for today includemy dad coming over to give me a hand sorting out the garage (they don't have a garage of their own so they store stuff in ours but I've got a chest freezer coming at the weekend and there is currently a sawn in half mattress, some dining chairs and a sawn in half dining table all sat in the middle of there that need sorting once and for all! Along with lots of other "stuff" that has been dumped in there "out of the way" during lockdown.)
Prep rm survey items ✅
Stew some apples from the fruit bowl that keep getting left (and add in some banana out of the freezer into the mix) ✅ &✅
update freezer inventory ✅
wash a load on the quick wash ✅ and hang out to line dry
triage fridge to make sure nothing is going to waste before deciding on todays meals ✅
check banking after setting up August sheet ✅
try to re-string ds2s guitar, the string broke early in lockdown but as dh is wfh I've been putting this job off (and the fact that we've never actually managed to replace this string correctly ourselves
)
✅ ✅ Made up a little care package and will post using rm survey stamps/envelopes ✅ ✅
Thats enough to be going on with, take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning all. Thanks for starting us off 1LL. I too have had a bit of a broken nights sleep and finally gave up about 5 and came down and made a cup of tea.Today’s jobs:
check banking as several DDs have gone out - done ✅
do an hours work - plan to do this now before everyone is up
washing done and pegged out
friend coming for socially distanced cuppa, haven’t seen them since early March.Send an e mail I’ve been procrastinating about
post some forms I filled in over the weekend, luckily they came with pre paid reply envelopes
check for courgettes
print off copies of both our tax returns I submitted yesterday and make a note of how much is to be paid, when. We have the money for this already. Move the excess we’ve saved and don’t need to pay to savings.Have a good day all. Purps.7 -

Hi everyone
Thanks for starting us off today @1LuckyLady
Hope everyone's well and big hugs to anyone struggling, another one here with a crappy nights sleep. Not sure how much I'll get done today as we have the electrician due to sort a couple of sockets in kitchen and to sort fuse board (which turns out to be illegal on 2 counts - maybe I'll sleep better once this is done as it is on my mind, all the what if's you know the ones - what if the house burns down the insurance is invalid and we can't afford to rebuild? and round and round it goes)
So far:
Checked Bank & made PAD
Later:
Buyer to collect a FB sale
Exercise
Swagbucks
Purge a few emails
Enter a few comps
All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
Check: Lucky Bob, PMP, WinaDinner
Read or knit
Have a good day everyone.

Morning folks
Thanks to @1LuckyLady for starting us off
It must be something in the water. I slept well but pinged awake at 4.08am - I did want to be up for 5 (early gym session) but I would have liked that extra hour!
Work day today. Early gym session was good and I'm glad that I bit the bullet and got back to it. I have a bit more strength and stamina than I expected - and certainly more than in Feb. I think that the combo of 2 months of rest and digging at the allotment must have nudged me back on track
Other than that, just normal workday things. Our smart meter isn't working today so I need to keep an eye on it to see if it's temporary or a fault. I won't be impressed if they have to change the meter AGAIN!
Have a good one all and see you in the "early to bed" club!

@ziggy2407 hope you get the fuse board sorted so you can get some sleep. Catastrophising is such a sleep stealer.Hope others get sleep too.6

Ziggy - I daren't even think about our ancient fuse board - I reckon there are pterodactyls nesting in it! These are the sort of things I'm dreading being discovered when our main programme of building work starts later this month. I have ring-fenced a sum of money for our home improvements, but I daren't commit to booking any further work after that until I know that there are no nasty surprises lurking.
I also have form when it comes to insomnia & catastrophising - it is not a good combination & I sympathise.
