Penelopa.Pitstop said:I suggest Italy. No special entry requirements, low number of cases, hot weather. I spent 3 weeks in Italy recently and enjoyed it, except the part when I didn't visit some attractions, because I didn't want to wear a mask. But otherwise it was quite pleasant.
Hotels are cheap due to lower number of tourists.
I'm currently in Switzerland but weather here is a bit moody. Mix of rain and hot weather. Masks only required on public transport. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. I wouldn't bother this year. You could book something but you could also lose your money. I've also got itchy feet, have been a world traveller for the past 40 years and it's awful having to stay put. But right now it's quite clear that unnecessary travel is just foolish. It's not just the countries we have to consider, it's the modes of transport we use, getting to the airport, what's it like at the airport, what's it like on planes, etc. You can't even guarantee surviving coronavirus if you get infected, it's killing young and old alike.
It's crazy to even consider going away simply because 'I wanna'. You risk not only losing your money but also your life.

There seems lots of people talking about risks without any valid stats to back up those risks. Why is it necessarily riskier to go abroad than stay in the UK? I want a late break in September and am thinking about the risks involved as I don't want to take the possibility of getting coronavirus lightly. But when you look at what little info is available how do people work out that it's safer to stay here than travel to say Greece? All I read is 'I feel that is a risk'.1

Some of my friends have just returned from a wonderful holiday in Greece: I am green with envy!
Firstly, note that according to MSE the only insurance that covers Covid-related risks is the Nationwide Flex Plus. This comes with a bank account so opening it would take a little time, so arrange that now.
Secondly, since the situation is so changeable I suggest booking very close to the date of departure.

I repeat where are the stats that show it's 'riskier' to go on holiday to a low risk area than it is to say stay in Manchester?1
