Partner desperate to go abroad ...

Great post and I too am fed up with people making assumption on every post they feel is not agreeable to them.ad_man said:No, but you obvioulsy implied that they applied to the poster. As for: 'Can you calculate that risk when you have no idea who is stood in front of you or behind you or sat next to you?' Again, a sweeping assumption. It would not be far stretched to have say, two daughters with grand parents stood in front another daughter and son stood behind and your partner next to you. Snap for seating.
Take care.2 -
Do check back to let us know where you decide please.lady1964 said:Both my DH & I are planning to travel abroad next month; we’ve had to cancel a 3 week holiday to Australia to see our DD and we’re now looking carefully at where we could go. The plan currently is to book somewhere via BA holidays but we’re doing plenty of research on several destinations and keeping a very close eye on FCO advice.2 -
We will travel with hand luggage, do online check in to minimise queuing, and fast track through security, then VIP lounge, and have a hire car for transfers at the other end.
If we choose the location wisely and follow the rigorous hygiene precautions that are now second nature, I don't think we are exposed to any greater risks than we are at home.
ETA just seen this:

Thanks. We're fans of Lanzarote. But even I baulk at going against FCO advice (only for insurance purposes). But still considering Greece.happyandcontented said:1 -

I will, I’m hoping we can book something within the next couple of weeks.Adamc said:

I think that cover is for the Canaries as a whole, not just individual islands, but it isn't that clear from the link.smallblueplanet said:

Including here of course.

A couple of my good friends have just gone to Italy - they're in Rome and say it's actually quite nice not having to fight your way through thousands of other tourists for once.
Everything that needs to be open is open, they're having a lovely time and have no real concerns.
If you're sure you can deal with the potential for quarantine on return (as the rules for Spain changed with a few hours notice) then that's where I'd go.
I felt bad for my partner being stuck at home, so since my earlier post in the thread we're now booked to visit Costa Del Torquay (what a lucky girl!)2 -
So I bit the bullet last night and booked 11 days in the Dominican Republic, leaving the day after we should have left for Sydney. As it stands now, we have the option of getting a PCR test, although if we don’t, we will get tested on arrival so I think we’ll get the test, although it’s not cheap but I got a good deal on a hotel, which I booked separately to the flights and we can cancel the hotel up to the night before we’re due to arrive.
