Everyone is numbered up to here. Pleased I won't be on my own - the point of this challenge is doing small things that will make a big difference in the long term, mainly to your own mental health and wellbeing. I'm pleased that it resonates with some of you - it will be an amazing August!
You are a brave lady doing electrics mothernerd. I actually put my own lights in the living room - can't believe I did that all those years ago. I'd forgotten...Not giving up

Can I join please? My main targets for August are going to be based around:
Ask for help - going to a new physiotherapist that specialises in back pain with the hope of finally getting somewhere with my back pain. I will be asking them for as much help as I can get!
Zen - I've taken up reading again on a daily basis in lockdown, I absolutely love it and it's the only time I think I fully focus on one thing only.
I will focus on the other things but these are my main goals for August. I have a few meet ups with friends planned but nothing major or costly so fingers crossed.5 -
Hi All I just want to start August with a massive shoutout for (some) private landlords. I have been in the same house for 16 years and she just called to say that she didn't want to put up the rent!
So thats a happy me for an other year.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Can't believe it's the first of August tomorrow. Thanks for the challenge, CCL.
Four week budget was sorted on 23rd August and everything seems ok although I'll have to keep an eye on the food budget. Might have to increase it sightly. Combination of online deliveries, no YS bargains and shopping at the local butcher and general store which are more expensive but the produce is fresher and lasts longer.
No real plans for August as we are trying to avoid crowds but I really would like to try to get out a bit for a walk. I really like the idea of making small changes which will make big differences over time. Actually, in quite a small space of time in some cases. I don't know about everyone else but I feel that I'm just hanging about doing not very much.
So:
On a personal care level:
Daily (actually twice daily) - adopt a proper skin care regime.
Weekly - Manicure and pedicure
Monthly - Lose half a stone. Actually, I'm less concerned with the actual amount than feeling my clothes fitting and thereby looking better. With that in mind week one means no chocolate, biscuits or cakes. Additional goals for weeks two, three and four to follow.
On a household level:
Daily - Write a list of things that have to be done every day. That way I might not forget to do something. And dispose of something that is broken or isn't needed. Use one thing from the depths of the freezer.
Weekly - Concentrate on improving one room a week. It might mean spending a little (but not too much and I will use up what I can), Starting on week one with our bedroom. A nice comfy space is needed.
Monthly - One big job I hate ie cleaning the oven. (That might be on the "frog" list!!!!!!!!!!)
On a more general level:
Daily - Read (it helps me relax).
Weekly - Email my brother, family and friends to keep in touch.
Monthly - Re-evaluate where we are and where we're going and what we want to do and how we're going to achieve it.
Frogs:
Quite a few! Make a list and tackle them one at a time.
And finally:
I want to learn to do something that I can't do or haven't done before. I'm thinking about baking. I know it's second nature to most people but I've never really tried properly. Never know till you try.
So that's my plan for August. Any suggestions to keep me on track gratefully received.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -
Morning all and welcome to Amazing August!
I don't know what the weather is like where you are but it's still reasonably sunny here so I intend to make the most of that today.
I am up and dressed so I can tick that off the list, and am seeing bestie later which is good for my mental health. Today's frogs are to move a couple of things from downstairs to upstairs and put them away. I don't think I'm going to do a lot of actual work today but I've already washed the dishes and put the first load of washing on. Curtains and windows wide open to get a bit of light and fresh air through the house. Trying to make the most of it while it's nice outside.
I will also need to sort out the pile of stuff to pack the car and take to the tip tomorrow.
Whatever you're getting up to today turtles be kind to yourselves, take a little time out, but also take time to do a little bit of something at home. Remain Zen and don't do anything too impulsive. I may just be about to break this rule myself today. Three weeks ago the kids asked me about a new cat - yes we have loads but we didn't get another after Tuxy died. I said to them that if the cat they wanted still hadn't found a home by the end of the month then we could think about it. I'm sure that you can guess what has happened (or not happened). Not giving up

First check in of August.
Skin been seen to. Actually I've been doing it for a few days now. Lotions and potions all put in a very accessible place so no excuse for not being able to find them and it only takes five minutes so no excuse for lack of time either. Not a cake, biscuit or piece of chocolate has passed my lips despite temptation (ie Himself who has a bigger stash then Cadburys).
Daily household items all ticked off. Have even disposed of a broken item and retrieved some frozen mackerel to make some pate for me. Have a plan for the bedroom and have ordered some new bedding and a lampshade (did have a think about it overnight). Not expensive and it matches the carpet and blind. Also ordered a new handle for the bedroom cupboard. The old one was supplied by the council and they must have bought them for 2p per hundred. It's awful and it has decades on paint on it. Don't know how I'm going to get it off the door but where there's a will and all that. It's just a detail but it's annoying and (inspired by CCL) I am determined to get a comfortable space that I'm happy with to live in. Bedroom could do with a lick of paint but that'll have to wait until I'm brave enough to go to the DIY store.
Emailed/texted friends and family today and they've all got back to me already. Think it just takes someone to take the initiative.
Quite nice here today. Bit cloudy but warm. Ventured to the butcher and local shop for a few bits and a roast beef joint for tomorrow when the Boy comes and then went for a walk. Feel better for the exercise and the fresh air.
Early bed again and finish my book. Only a few chapters to go.
Grateful for finding a local butcher who is very knowledgeable and has lots of lovely produce (more expensive but worth it).
Have a lovely weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.5 -
