I would like you to provide a Statement of my Account. The FCA Rules provide that a firm’s procedures must ensure that a complaint may be made free of charge. I require complete details of the loans you gave me and the amounts that I repaid in order to be able to clearly explain my complaint.
In addition, the FCA’s Principles set out that (6) a firm must pay due regard to the interests of its customers and treat them fairly and (7) a firm must pay due regard to the information needs of its clients, and communicate information to them in a way which is clear, fair and not misleading. I consider that you are being obstructive, delaying and not treating me fairly by not supplying me with a Statement of Account.
If you do not supply me with this information, I shall be taking my complaint about payday loan affordability to the Financial Ombudsman and I shall also be writing to the FCA pointing out the difficulties you are putting in the way to prevent me being able to make an effective complaint.

That's what I did they responded the same day. Had an email today saying they are still investigating so cant have a final response after 4 weeks but will by 8 weeks they are all dragging it out the full 8 weeks it seems.

I done this, they still wouldnt give me details(both paydayuk and payday express), I complained to the FCA they didnt seem to care

Have been lurking so was now just looking for some advice.

Have complained to Wonga, Sunny and QuickQuid.
Sunny and QuickQuid have all rejected my claims which I have now escalated to FOS.

Today I received a reply from Wonga offering a settlement on some of my loans. They did not include ones that were from 6 years or over. I have received a decent settlement offer which is what I asked them for (the interest, fees refunded plus 8%). In your experience and opinion, would you say its better to accept their offer which I was surprised at the amount and run, or take to FOS and try reclaim from the loans over 6 years old?

    Thanks,

    Jack

  • Hello all,
Just sent off my emails to both Quick Quid and Wonga - loans under 6 years old (just).

I'll let you all know how I get on.

Hooray, I'm nearing the end of my journey!!! Had an email yesterday from the ombudsman stating they uphold my complaint for loans 4-26 from wonga :j:j I have no idea what this will equate to but it's done now.

I first complained to Wonga in May last year, it has certainly dragged on.

Wow! A positive result but it certainly took it's time coming. Do you mind me asking when did you put your complaint to the Ombudsman and how long did they take to get a response to you?

My timeline for any one starting out who wants an idea:

March: requested list of loans from Wonga
May: Wonga offered refund of 6 loans out of 10
July: Sent information to Ombudsman to request full refund (the 6/10 seemed completely random - they offered to refund the first and last loans and a random assortment between)

Now I am waiting for a reponse.
    LBM: October 2016: £20,130 / Current: May 2019: £12,576 37.53%
    DFD: [STRIKE]February 2024[/STRIKE] April 2022?
  • How long did wonga take to come back to you if you don't mind me asking? Thanks

Hello all, I have been a long time browser of this site and decided to bite the bullet and post.

OK it's like this, I have had in the past had Payday Loans with:-

    Lending Stream
    Piggybank
    Wonga
    MyJar
    Safetynet
    Peachy

I also have a huge balance with Shop Direct (Littlewoods) and trying to know what do do about them. Also about £600 left to pay off Provident.... :(

So not a good time in my life about two years ago, suffering from depression and developed an online slot gambling addiction - which I have now made progress to quit. I looked back on some old bank statements today and feel disgusted at myself and ashamed.

I don't have anymore payday loans now apart from a small balance with Safetynet left. I know it was my own doing the debts trust me but they made it so easy for me at the time to obtain funds, it just got out of control. I really feel now looking back I shouldn't have been able to have borrowed again and again.

Would I stand any chance at all of claiming anything back? I would use the money to tackle Shop Direct and Provident a bit if I did. I have sent them the Debt Camel letter (three days ago) asking them all for statements etc. Peachy got back right away with the 8 week deadline letter, as did Safetynet. Wonga not replied or Lending Stream (which was the biggest) had about 15 loans with them.

Please try not to be unkind or judgemental (I know I've been an idiot) just now getting myself together and looking to see if I can do anything to make the future a bit better.

    Thanks everyone x
