Can I ask what happens if you do not have a response from the company after 8 weeks has passed?
    Thanks

just complain straight to the Ombudsman and get the process going.

I have today received an offer of around £1700 from Wonga for interest and fees on 5 of the 35 loans I had with them. It took them just over 7 weeks to come back to me. I believe they should take responsibility for more of the loans and pay a higher amount so am considering taking the complaint to the ombudsmans but would like to ask some advise first:
Will I lose the current offer if the FOS rule in Wongas favour?
How long does the FOS process take?
    Many thanks in advance :)

I dont think you would lose the offer, but I am not 100% sure. The FOS may agree with the offer and not offer you more, I dont think they would say Wonga shouldnt pay you anything less.

Have you calulated what you should expect? Depending how different it is to their offer, you'll have to decide if its worth pursuing with the FOS as it may be next year before you recieve any money.

wonga is on 7 weeks for my complaint, so hoping for some news soon. I am claiming for around £6K, if they offered me £1.5K, Id go straight to FOS. However, if it was in the £5-£6K region, Id just accept and escape the hassle of the FOS long process.

  • Finally had my ombudsman decision on QQ. Refund on 5 out of 6 loans which by my calculations is just over 2k with the interest added on plus the removal of the default from the last loan.

This will be my last, largest and longest complaint so I will be happy to see back of it.

Just hope QQ settle now without dragging it out but I'm in no rush.

This process started in November last year, but 4 complaints later I will be just over 3.5k better off with 2 defaults wiped from my credit score for good measure.

If you are just starting out, have patience. It feels like it will never end but it is worth waiting it out until the end. At the beginning of this process I had just got myself out of debt but still had the defaults and terrible credit history hanging round my neck. I now own my own home, have a clear credit history and healthy savings account to cover any kind of emergency in the future to make sure I never fall back into this trap again.
  • Is the deadline 8 weeks from the inital email requesting your statements? Or 8 weeks from sending the statements?
Also safetynet credit have replied saying they check my transactions and could see i could afford to pay it back, even though my bank account was constantly in my overdraft, and i lent off of them 6 times and still owe them to this day. Any advice on where to go?
    Thanks
  • I got the following reply from QQ after sending them what I think I am owed:

To help us reach a fair complaint outcome in a timely manner (and where appropriate provide an offer of redress), please provide us with the following information as soon as possible:

    • Bank statements (at the point/s you took out your loan/s with us)
    • Payslips (at the point/s you took out your loan/s with us)
    • Any additional information relating to your financial circumstances (at the point you took out your loan/s with us)

Do I have to give them this info or is there some other way I can challenge? I know I will not have payslips for such a long period even if I can scrabble together some bank statements
  • Dont supply QQ anything, its just a way of them delaying matters further.

QQ and 118 both gave me final responses yesterday, both rejected. Very annoyed by the 118 one inparticular. Deciding what to do next with both now.

For questions about Wonga and their compensation well I was wondering the same until I got an email 2 days ago which made me laugh. From the day they email you saying settlement of compensation is underway, it can take upto 14 days. Ridiculous when you consider how fast they dish out loans and then take your money. Just more delaying tactics, pathetic company.

How long does wonga take to refund? Been offered a settlement today which is quite good and might take, but don't want it to be another long drawn out process. Thanks

Sam question as above for quick quid! Woke up to an offer which is exactly what I wanted, how long do they take to process?

So far, look to have back £8k from 2 months of starting this process, money I never dreamt I'd see again!

I have sent complaints to QQ and Wonga around 2-3 weeks ago. I can see its quite a lengthy process, but I'm willing to wait.

I have read in here that sometimes they ask for statements, payslips etc. and that we shouldn't provide them. If they do request this, what's the next thing I should do?

I have complained to about 10 companies and only QQ have asked for any payslips, statements etc. I just ignored there email and they still eventually came back with a decision albeit a negative one. Sending these things may work in your favour.
