Hi illegally_blonde, I e-mailed support@quickquid.co.uk very quick responses to the request for statement of accounts, and my complaint e-mail. Now waiting for their final response may take a lot longer, we will see.

Hi illegally_blonde also have a look at the debt camel website, some interesting reading on there.
  • Thank you delete33, that's the email address I used, might try and phone them. Will check out that website too that you mentioned thanks.

Can I ask (if you don't mind) have you already paid off all your payday loans or are you still paying them off? Reason I ask is, the few companies I have emailed- I have already cleared the loans in full - only because a family member helped out, I'm unsure whether this will have an impact on my complaint if they are now paid in full. The quick quid one however is with a debt agency and I'm paying them, same with lending stream.
  • The payout I just received was from an account I closed about 3 years ago.

Hi illegally_blonde, All my loans were paid off in full with very few late payment charges. Approx 40 loans with Quickquid and Paydayuk.

Just e-mail for a statement of accounts then you need to write your complaint and e-mail to them. No templates as every ones claims are different. Take a look at Debt Camel website for letters others have sent so you have an idea of what to write.
  • I was accepted for 36 payday loans in 36 months. Same story as quite a few. It only started as a Wonga for £200 and then I was borrowing from QuickQuid, Lending Stream, Ladder Loans and Pounds to Pocket £1000's at a time. Even from my bank!

I have a claim in with each lender and will update my progress.

So far Wonga have replied to say they are investigating with a dedicated team (seems like the same response as everybody else).

QuickQuid and Pounds to Pocket came back with the same automated email saying they did a credit check, gave a reference for the credit check and that they did all appropriate lending from then on. I have replied to escalate my case to their "Final Response" team - which I imagine is the actual complaints team, and not an auto-reply mailbox. For those not aware, both QuickQuid and Pounds to Pocket are part of the same company, so if you have borrowed from both, you can include that in your claim for each - they should have EVEN MORE knowledge that they shouldn't have lent anything to you as the two companies should have shared more details of your lending history.

Lending Stream and Ladder Loans have not yet responded.

I found an email I sent to Wonga explaining that I couldn't afford the payment that was about to come out. They told me to call them up and I remember that they said "You would have to default before we could consider helping you". I think that might be true, but the fact that I had emailed them saying I needed help and then being issued a further 23 loans out of fear of hearing them telling me that "a default will seriously impact your credit score" was not particularly responsible. Fair enough, don't help me if I don't want to default, but they didn't have to lend me even more for an additional 23 times to exacerbate the problem.

I'm not sure a bank would lend me more after me telling them point blank I couldn't afford it...

The Debt Camel website provided me with some fantastic advice and support for drafting my claims. 36 applications for payday loans in 36 months is obscene and I am ashamed of myself for letting myself get into this mess. But I'm more ashamed of the companies that continued to offer more and more because they knew I would have no way out. The negative comments around "it's your fault you got into debt" are too narrow-minded and don't take into consideration the fact that companies like Wonga based their acceptance criteria on whether you would need to borrow again, and provide them with even more profit. It's a two way street: I was desperate for help. They were desperate for more profits.
