I was fined for speeding for second time, what now?

There is a belief that education may be more effective than punishment. Possibly not in the OP’s case.Supersonos said:
That's crazy that you can do 53mph (and most speedos would read nearer 56mph) in a 40 zone and essentially not get punished.TooManyPoints said:You should get offered an SAC up to 49mph (speed limit+10%+5mph).
Up to 53mph (limit + 10% + 9mph) actually.2 -
I was done for speeding in june. I been done before but never took the course because i didnt fancy travelling to god knows where, spend 4 or 5 hours there and pay £90.00.
this time I am able to take the course on line in the comfort of my own home. so thats what I'm doing. and all just for someone to tell me I been a naughty boy, dont do it again.0 -
Oh look, another repeat offender. Would you still be calling yourself a "naughty boy" had your speeding injured or killed someone?clive0510 said:I was done for speeding in june. I implied no such thing. I merely pointed out that the use of an awareness course was wasted on you for the very fact that you continue to speed and have been caught again. I'm not making a judgement other to say what's the point of a further course if you clearly take nothing from it.gilbutre said:
If you had read things through properly before intervening (that goes for george_michael as well) you'd have noticed I was replying to neilmcl who implied I got this letter because my speeding was putting people in danger. So no, I wasn't. There are many places in the UK where the speed limit is obviously exagerated. I mentioned one example of this.Aylesbury_Duck said:
That's an entirely different argument.gilbutre said:
Oh come on. Speed limits in the UK are probably from the most ridiculous in the world. 40mph limit on a road with two lanes in each sense separated by a wide grass area in the middle is an authentic joke, you see that kind of stuff everywhere.neilmcl said:
And how much actual time do you lose travelling at 40mph on your hypothetical road instead of 50mph or 60mph? On a 10 mile stretch it's 3 and 5 minutes respectively. Is it really worth getting agitated about or considering it an "authentic joke", whatever that means?5 -
How do you know that you weren't putting other people in danger?gilbutre said:If you had read things through properly before intervening (that goes for george_michael as well) you'd have noticed I was replying to neilmcl who implied I got this letter because my speeding was putting people in danger. After all, you obviously didn't see the speed camera, camera van or manned speeding check so it's entirely feasible that there were pedestrians about and you didn't see them either.3 -
a friend of mine was knocked over by a car reversing out of there drive. he was walking along the pavement. the woman driving was reversing using her door mirrors. so can see either side but cant see directly behind. my pal broke his themur. not good when you are 80 yrs of age. driver wasnt speeding though.Highland76 said:

In one way, they were. They were going too fast for the visibility they had.clive0510 said:

case is still on going. she's being done for driving without due care and attention, reversing a vehicle onto the public highway and one other I dont recall.Aylesbury_Duck said:
