I have recently received a bill from IL. Never heard of them until now. I have asked for a copy of my agreement which they emailed to me today. There is a signature, which isn't mine and they told me which device I had used to sign up with and they said it was via facebook. I have now asked them where they have got their information from as it mentions a forwarder in the agreement. I feel sure that this can't be legal.
Read the thread (page 2 in particular as things have moved on from the start) and make a formal complaint to the claims company and then the FOS if they refuse.

Just on the FOS, IG are not a claims company, they're solicitors so don't come under the remit of FOS. Instead rejected complaints should go to the Legal Ombudsman.
  • Has anyone actually managed to resolve this successfully? We've just had a letter through today. My other half recieved a letter today demanding payment. No invoice request, not correspondence from ingenious and no recollection of ever clicking on the link. We've requested disclosure of the agreement but just wondering if anyone had heard back from the sra or managed to resolve it?

Yes.  The court case was clearly a successful outcome.

Just complain to the firm and follow it up with the Legal Ombudsman if necessary (thanks Alpine Star)

  • I have just received a bill from INgenious Legal saying that they acted on my behalf. Apparently I signed up with Fountain Finance on facebook in August 2019. They are a marketing site that send details on to INgenious Legal. They claim that I signed up via my Iphone which is a lie as I don't use my phone for anything like that. They have a signature which is not mine and they say that they have been in touch with Santander and that Santander have told them that my cheque is clearing and that is a lie. I have 7 days to pay them. How is this type of practice allowed and do I have to pay? will I be in trouble if I don't pay?

Have you not read any of the advice on this topic? Don't ignore it, complain to the firm using the details already given on this post, if they reject it, you can go to the legal ombudsman.
  • I’ve received a letter from black horse regarding a loan I had with them . They are paying me £1500 but they said there was 2 company’s and I needed to call them to advise which one I want to remove. I called them , I knew I had used fast track reclaim but the other was ingenious who I havnt heard of , I told them to remove them . I’ve had another successful claim with fast track and paid them as I will in this instance once I receive the cheque but no clue who this ingenious company is and can’t find any emails or correspondence for them . They sound a bit dodgy going by what I’ve read ! Do I have to pay them both ?? Like I say ... I know for definite FTR was used but not the other .... FTR has a reference number on the letter but ingenious says PIR AUTO CONVERSION , no ref number . This is from years ago and hadn’t heard anything and haven’t heard from FTR either . Any advice appreciated
  • My husband is also having demands and threat of debt collectors, automated phone calls from Ingenious Legal, we knew nothing of them until September this year.  We applied for PPI through Martin Lewis site last August in the week of the deadline, I can’t remember what the form, a template I think.  He did get a payout in June but there was no mention of paying a percentage to a third party.  Martin Lewis always says you can do this yourselves. What are we meant to do.  Has anyone had any joy.

When you say ‘Martin Lewis’ website’ which website are you referring to?

did either of you fill in a ‘free PPI search’ via an advert on Facebook?
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

Martin Lewis does not have a site.   The closest you get is this site but it's not his.    The method on this site uses Resolver which is not a template form.

Have you perhaps used a clone site by mistake?  Unfortunately, some companies made their sites look very similar to recognised brands (often running multiple sites for different brands) and whilst you thought you were complaining using that company, in reality, you were employing a CMC.  Could that be the case here?

Ask the CMC for a copy of your contract as you have no recollection of employing them and wish to see proof that you did.   If they cannot provide it or its a fake signature, then make a complaint (they are now regulated, albeit light touch) and you get access to the FOS with them.
