I have a simple rule, if I don't understand it I don't 'invest' in it.
    I don't understand buttcoin.
I don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!

For me I do understand Bitcoin, but that's also why I don't 'invest' in it.
  • Everyone is different. I understand Bitcoin, I spend many months studying it, technology behind it is fascinating. I've made money on it. Even bowlhead99 made money on it :) But if someone doesn't understand all implications of their "investment" or "gamble" as others call it, then certainly they should not put money on it.

Have you considered not pushing it on people asking about saving and investing  ;)

I would like to invest in Bitcoin, but I have in the past lost out. But seeing Martin investing has made me think again. Am I wise going with this?

You've not seen martin investing in Bitcoin, you've seen a scam advert. Please stop taking investment advice from adverts that you see on google, facebook or elsewhere.

Wise would not be the word I would use.  "Martin" is NOT investing, you have seen a scam advert, if you followed the advert up you would be guaranteed 100% loss.  Once bitten, twice shy should be the rule.  Ignore Facebook, Google, Twitter and other social media adverts.

Anyone know where the best Bitcoin exchange rates can be had or know of a comparison site similar to the MSE travel money site?
Quite a few I've checked require you to log in and have Bitcoin to sell before they tell you the rate. Best I've found so far is LocalBitcoins.

    EDIT (23/7/2020):

Summary of thread - Don’t bother reading, hardly anybody is on topic.

Kudos to “pioruns” who suggested Binance Jersey and “Bowlhead99” who mentioned Bitstamp.

I’ve done my own research and the results are tabulated below in order of best overall rate for exchanging about a grands worth of BTC and withdrawing the GBP. Note that I could be wrong as on some sites it’s not easy to be sure what the actual sell rate is. These rates were obtained within seconds of each other. Binance Jersey looks like the best bet - thanks again pioruns.

Yay! I am glad my platform has turned out to be cheapest and you like it. Looks like there is only two post "on-topic" in this thread - yours and mine! :D I kinda knew the results as I did very similar comparison many months ago. Nothing has changed and Binance JE is still on top. Enjoy!

Fair comment, but suggest you post your link on the referrals board per forum etiquette, otherwise all the discussion threads get plagued with people trying to make their own referral cash regardless of whether whatever they are posting stands on its own merits.

I'll remove my 'spam' flag after the link that pays you a percentage of binance's profits from new customers is moved to the appropriate section. Cheers!
