there are a lot of people who would love to be in your shoes, He appears to have got off lightly. His finances haven’t been impacted by Covid at all, he’s received all his wages, his job Is secure (if there were redundancies in his company then you’d think they clear out those they already proved they could survive without during the furlough) The only impact of the pandemic on him is that he’s being instructed to take 5 days holiday in August & is jealous of his colleagues who were supported by both the government and the company making a gesture of the extra 20% to their staff that were furloughed.
With ten days notice he can legally be instructed to use 5 days leave. as for his & your resentment/bitterness/jealousy towards those colleagues that were furloughed what would you rather? They were made redundant? Only received 80% furlough or were put on unpaid/annual leave? The union have told him its all fine, what more do you want?2 -

Besides its not only hubby moaning about the injustice, half the work force are up in arms over it.0 -
The company needed to keep some people working.
The process they decide to use to decide who is furoughed and who isn't, is up to them. For whatever reason they decided your husband was one of those to keep working. Would you still have been concerned about injustice if your husband was furloughed while others kept on working? Clearly they couldn't furlough everyone.
With regards to the August leave, a lot of companies are telling people to take some leave over the next month or so, mine included. Because what they don't want to have no one taking leave because of the lockdown, then having everyone trying to cram it in at the end of the year.
I'd quite like to have been furloughed as well. Didn't happen. That's life. Get over it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
so it’s not fair and entirely unreasonable that your husband know has to take 5 days leave in August.... but you were happy for other staff who were probably worried about their livelihood at the time to be forced to take 3 weeks leave in the height of a pandemic and the company not to use the support available to them?
Out of curiosity have you always been so self centred and self entitled? Or is it a recent side effect of the Covid 19 pandemic? The last few months have brought out some great aspects of human nature and spirit.....but also some pretty ugly ones.1 -

Where on earth is the injustice?
If hubby does not like it, he can choose to leave and work for a fair employer that will let him alive and laze around at their expense. Should be a winning interview strategy.2 -

Even back in June there was a few bittee about it, but that bitterness has heightened a great deal now since some employees have been told they now have to take their own holidays which will leave them short for Christmas. So basically they have had to cancel their Christmas time off to have enforced time off in August.0 -
There's always concern over furloughed jobs, whatever your husband has been told or believes.
When cuts need to be made, where do you think they start? The ones they wanted to keep the business running? Or the ones they were able to live without?
He should simply tell his bosses that he would prefer not to work for the money they give him. They should be able to sort something out for him.1 -
Aaah diddums.
The option to leave always remains and in a new job, your husband will accrue enough leave to take Christmas off.0 -

The injustice is clear to me, some have had 3 weeks off for free and others haven't.
And isnt just him which is bitter over it, hundreds who work there are too.0
