Elderly Parents getting Ripped Off

Do not switch to outfox the market. Many people have had problems with them. If you were on the ball with energy tariffs and monitoring it may be worth it but given your parents situation and how you are finding it difficult I strongly suggest you don’t go with them. Similarly I recently switched to symbio as they were the cheapest.....they are a nightmare to deal with and overcharge customers direct debits, an example of another company you shouldn’t deal with in your scenario.
stick with either SO energy or Robin Hood/Ebico, they are cheap and they have excellent helpful customer service.2 -
Thanks @niktheguru
Symbio were the cheapest for me but i did a quick google on them and saw negative review after negative review from customers and decided against it! Its weird because outfox had really good views, 22k on trust pilot alone! My gut feeling was a bit weary of them, i still really want SO Energy. Cheap and also 5 star reviews everywhere you go! Problem is they do not do dual, only GAS.
Might just go for SO for GAS and have to go for a slightly expensive tariff for electricity.0 -
I am now looking at Avro Energy for Dual. Works out quite good and their reviews are amazing. Are avro a good shout?0

She has said this because it doesn’t look like one random incorrect meter reading was given as the subsequent readings for the following months were all higher than the jan reading, e.g it wasn’t 1000 one month then went up to 3000 the next then went back to 2800 the following, which is an obvious error in the second or third reading.xlnc99 said:
Just got off the phone. They cant send me the bills - they told me i had to send a SAR, which i did. They are being shady, they said i cant request the last 5 years i have to wait for 48 hours because she has already done an SAR for my mums 2013 bill. I find it strange but ile call back in 48 hours,
In regards to the current problem, i did not want to speak to much because quite frankly i did not know what i was talking about. She told me that although there is a big jump in JAn there are no issues with the meter readings. Her exact words
'prior to the readings on feb 5th the readings all follow on from each other and the consumption history from the last 12 months follow the correct pattern and there is no huge jump especially in jan/feb"
I told her i would call her back. This is why i wanted to write an e-mail because i have no idea what she was talking about and its the opposite of what you guys have told me.
ADVICE PLEASE
I wote this post earlier (above) and have yet to receive a reply. Can someone tell me what the woman meant (highlighted in bold) - i followed everyone's instructions when talking to SP and that was the response the lady gave. Does it make sense?
you need to explain that the monthly use in jan is crazy high compared to all previous and all subsequent readings because the meter reader (or whoever your mum actually spoke to) told her she was reading the meter wrong, and since that point she was reading it another way.0 -
Everyone has told you to avoid dual fuel as it is usually more expensive yet you still ask if it’s ok?
my personal opinion is go with so energy for gas, sort out the electricity problem then do a energy comparison for electricity and go with a cheap elec deal from a good operator.
just a word of advice, people are losing patience on this thread as you seem to be giving out mixed responses and asking the same questions. There are some spammers using these forums that start threads like these just to irritate good willed forum members who want to help. I’m sure you’re not one of these and are genuinely asking for help, but just be aware there are only so many times people will say the same thing to you.1 -
The problem with avoiding Dual Fuel is it works out alot more expensive when i choose single tariffs. I have done both dual prices and single prices. It is not worth doing single when i check the prices as it increases quite a lot.
Not sure about the mixed responses if anything i am getting mixed responses. On one hand ive been told to go for single plans but it works out too expensive for me, which i have already explained. Then i try to go for dual prices which i am then being told not to do and go for single tarrifs even though its more expensive!
This is certainly not a troll thread and im not sure what spammers come on forums to start random conversations about problems and issues for a laugh. If people like that do exist, then they do need help. Serious help. I am not one of those.0 -
Dual fuel deals are rarely better value for high users of both fuels. What's wrong with Ebico for gas and Neon Reef for electricity - as discussed dozens of pages back? You've received good advice from multiple posters, but just seem to be ignoring it and asking the same questions again.1

You tried so really, really hard.Although as everyone keeps telling you, single fuels are often the cheapest option and it would make more sense to stay with SP until the apparent metering problem has been concluded.

EBICO and NEON REEF have poor reviews when i did my due diligence. I need a company with decent reviews and AVRO and SO ENERGY are my preferred choice based on price and REVIEW.Talldave said:Dual fuel deals are rarely better value for high users of both fuels. My mistake on the wording. They do both dual and single but their dual package was very expensive, their single was great for GAS. I could not find a single electricity price that makes it worthwhile to do both single. Dual packages came up better option in terms of price for me. Even if i stay with SP - i eventually have to switch over and ile be in the same situation.0
