Would like to make a point that i have been following all advice on here to the letter so not sure about the comments on here saying i havent been.
Congratulations on switching their gas to Robin Hood Energy, So Energy or whoever, and getting them on their Priority Services Register ! httpsimages6moneysavingexpertcomimagesforum_smiliessport-smiley-001gif
    • Er, you have, haven't you??
Switch in process and Priority Services Register in process
Great !  Two significant results; glad that the relevant tariff hadn't been withdrawn.
Just for the record, which company and tariff did you choose, what are the rates and the total annual cost?  Bet your parents were delighted to hear that their gas bill will be ~ £300 less than they've been paying.

So you think that OVO was that much cheaper that after my parents paying OVO 3k they refunded 1300. Whereas my parents paid SP around 3200 and got only refunded 100 pounds. You believe that is totally plausible and allowed? I thought the government cracked down on energy companies ripping off customers like this.

You did the exercise yourself only yesterday - you found that Ebico/Robin Hood and So were among the cheapest. Scroll further down the page - you will find over 50 suppliers and perhaps 150 tariffs -  a quick look at 8000 kWh in my region will give me an estimated annual cost of £800 and £1500

Just got off the phone. They cant send me the bills - they told me i had to send a SAR, which i did. They are being shady, they said i cant request the last 5 years i have to wait for 48 hours because she has already done an SAR for my mums 2013 bill. I find it strange but ile call back in 48 hours,

In regards to the current problem, i did not want to speak to much because quite frankly i did not know what i was talking about. She told me that although there is a big jump in JAn there are no issues with the meter readings. Her exact words

'prior to the readings on feb 5th the readings all follow on from each other and the consumption history from the last 12 months follow the correct pattern and there is no huge jump especially in jan/feb"

I told her i would call her back. This is why i wanted to write an e-mail because i have no idea what she was talking about and its the opposite of what you guys have told me.

    ADVICE PLEASE

I wote this post earlier (above) and have yet to receive a reply. Can someone tell me what the woman meant (highlighted in bold) - i followed everyone's instructions when talking to SP and that was the response the lady gave. Does it make sense?

She is quite right - how is SP to know that your mum had accidentally been giving the wrong readings and now she is wiser the correct ones are being given.

PS Have you switched your electric yet ????

PPS Still waiting to know who reads the meters and looks at the bills in your house ????????????/

OK GUYS - This goes to everyone. After doing extensive research on switching this is the best package i can see. I really wanted to go with SO ENERGY (CHEAP AND ALSO EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE) but their dual package is expensive and i cant find two good single packages. My switch before i take the plunge is as follows: The first section shows SCOTTISH POWER (current rate) and second part shows Outfox - Cheapest Dual package. I choose Outfox because they are a huge company with positive reviews aswell which is important to me.

What does Standing Charge mean? SP have a lower standing charge then Outfox.

You mean you still haven't changed despite all the advice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Go with SO for the electric - dual fuel from one supplier is generally bad news.

As they say on Dragon's Den - I'm OUT. I can't stand your dithering any more.

I said i was in the process in changin. You seem to forget that its only been two days since i have been told to change - Saturday was when i came back on the forum due to my illness. On Saturday i made the decision to switch and today is Monday which is the first day since i have had a chance. Plus the fact that i had to look over all the sites and compare everything and the fact i dont know what i am doing! I am moving as fast as possible!

Duel Fuel works out cheaper then going for SO for the electric and another supplier for GAS. Why is duel fuel bad news?

No doubt you'll be suggesting your parents spent a few thousand on their sister company's magic dust non-storage storage heaters that cost a fortune to run.
    I give up.

That was out of context, i said huge company and positive reviews 'aswell' as being the cheapest. I am not choosing them based on their size, that was just a bonus
