Agreed, would be a shame to miss out on a great fix like that as I don't think wholesale gas prices are going to be heading downwards any time soon.

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delay. I have been struck with food poisoning for the past week. Ive literally just recovered now and reading through the posts.

From what i understand it seems that there was defo an issue with the Jan electricity and i can get this refunded?

Can someone tell me what to do 
Shall i switch today or wait till the refund is sorted

I can't be sure, but there is an option on most of these meters to display the register currently being used for E7 purposes and I wonder if this is what it is?

On my L+G smart meter, which was originally in E7 mode, but is not now, there is a similar situation where the total import register still shows the correct total for both registers, but if you look at the register which is currently in use it shows a lower figure (total - register 2).

If my hypothesis is correct, the more interesting question is has the meter reading always been done using the 'Using Now' register up to January this year?

If so then there may be a refund to be claimed as if everything from the opening meter reading was wrong then the usage for January is simply wrong and should be corrected.

That sounds like a very plausible explanation for Using Now. Perhaps a second set of readings from @xlnc99 would confirm that the offset remains at 3782.9? 

Presumably the meter was used in E7 mode at some point in time, hence the only import register in use now doesn't match the Import kWh register?

And the second presumably is that the E7 use of the meter was at another address, otherwise the useless industry body that screws up meter readings would have spotted the error at the point of switching to non-E7 mode?

@xlnc99 you'll have explain that you suspect the meter was misread using button B instead of "9" until January this year, hence the leap in readings. Your mum might be amused at a button "B" issue occurring in the 21st century!!

Just repeat what you did to get this set of meter readings and post them here please:

We are keen to check the difference between the 'IMP KWH' reading and the 'USING NOW' reading. If that difference is unchanged it will confirm our hypothesis and be good news for you and your parents.

Judging most responses on here it seems Robin Hood or Ebico seems the best company to switch too. Is this correct? Which is the best company? What should my parents be paying monthly? Quick glance seems they are quoting around 160 per month

They are asking if my parents have an economy 7 meter? CAn anyone tell me if they do?
