After valuation, right now they value the property at 0.
Ah that’s a pain, I hope you manage to turn it around. Sometimes I think it’s worth packing your bags and trying a different lender with all the issues I hear about platform.
Yeah I hope so too. But all lenders now pretty much require an EWS1 form after what happened with Grenfell, so let's see what happens.

Finding platform terribly slow at processing documents. Sent them something (well, my broker did) last Thursday and they’ve only got round to sending it to the correct person today. A week turnaround, is that normal!?

Yeah I think they are pretty slow. Usually one or two days and you hear the surveyor or the responsible person has seen it. But they seen super slow indeed.
I'm waiting for them to come back to something that was sent on Tuesday, they usually come back in a few days so let's see.

Did you manage to hear anything?
  • Hello! Iv been following this thread since I applied via a broker to platform. I applied at the end of October 2020. Within a week the valuation had been booked and it went through fine. The next time I heard was a week or so later when they wanted some info regarding my deposit. Then I didn’t hear much until the 19/11 when I received an offer! It was at this stage that I realised my solicitor is useless so I changed. I had to full out another form and send it to them which they had sorted within a week. So the new solicitor got on with the job. During the search they found that a piece of land at the end of garden which had a brick shed built on it, was not in the property deed! Platform referred the information back to the underwriter who was happy there was no change to the value and they’re happy to proceed with a suitable indemnity policy. After some discussions between solicitors, this was soon done. All this leads up to completion which was today! I spoke to platform yesterday who said they’ve carried out “final checks” so it would appear they are checking us right until the last moment! I found platform to be quite helpful and everything went much easier than I had thought after reading some of your experiences!

One frustration of having a Platform Mortgage is there is no opportunity to have an online mortgage account.

Did they do any further credit checks on you to complete? We have a mortgage offer just waiting for some paperwork to exchange.  I have just received a ccj for a parking charge I never received, I have paid it and they said it’ll be removed from my file as paid on the day it was issued, I’m just nervous that the lender will see it before it leaves my file.  They also said o can get a Certificate of cancellation to prove it’s been removed from the register in the meantime.

That’s good to hear some positive comments. I think what let’s them down is that they’re so bloomin slow! I’m seeing others apply for mortgages on a Monday and be offered on the Friday.

I’m not sure what the check was, he just said “final checks” and being a bag of nerves at the time I didn’t think to ask what they were! I just looked at check my file but it’s not showing any searches for this month yet. If it helps I’ll check back in the next few days and let you know!
is it on your credit file?
i know how you feel, half way through my process I got a letter (from Lowell, notorious debt collectors) saying I defaulted on an electricity account 4 years ago! For what ever reason it wasn’t on my file and still isn’t!

To be fair to platform they handled my application quite quickly compared to most people’s comments. The only slow part was answering the phone! I would say it helps to ring them. They’ll “put a chase” on your account and it gets seen to much quicker. Their staff are friendly and helpful so when you do eventually get through it’s a pleasant experience dealing with them!
