  • I have a feeling based on our experience it is going to be at least a month before we get any definite news. This is the frustrating thing about Platform there is no information about them anywhere.

Likewise I have had no major updates, it would be interesting to know if Platform underwrite before instructing valuation or after, or indeed whether it just depends. But haven't managed to find that information online.
The impression I got from my MA is that they normally book the valuation straight away - but because I had paid £220 to 'upgrade' my free valuation to a homebuyers report they were waiting to underwrite before instructing the valuation (so I assume if for whatever reason I didn't pass underwriting then I'd be refunded the £220). Our case is straightforward enough so I'm not expecting any more hurdles so hopefully, it's good news tomorrow then eagerly await the valuation. If it means anything I applied on the 8th of July and didn't hear anything at all until the 20th. Then nothing until yesterday - so there must be a backlog.
  • Good Luck 👍👍
I haven't heard anything, patience is wearing very thin 😂
  • We have applied with Platform (17/07) mortgage adviser rang to get an update on Monday and they said they will be looking at it Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Only then will valuation be instructed once it’s been through underwriters. This takes so long!!

That seems pretty quick to be honest in current timescales

We paid to upgrade our valuation to the full report also. This was on Thursday.  We then passed over the details of surveyor/valuer to our vendor. Our vendor then booked everything directly with the survey company which only two working days later. He phoned to say that the bank should have his valuation report within three days and we should have the full report within seven.  Progress has been quick so  far.

How did you find out who the surveyors were?

Great! It sounds like ours was delayed because we didn't actually submit full proof of deposit as we were waiting until the 27th to take us over the 15% deposit we needed. We were informed they would instruct valuation anyway in the meantime but it turns out they didn't.
So it sounds like a miscommunication between MA and platform rather than an actual problem - fingers crossed today it will pass underwriting and the valuation timeline will be similar to your experience!
