Application went in 11 sept via our MA. They haven't been able to get any information from Platform when the file will be looked at but said  "at present Platform are taking around 17-20 working days to initially assess applications meaning they we are in a queue waiting for the file to be picked up by the underwriters. As the application was submitted on 11th September, I believe we are likely to hear towards the later part of next week or early part of the following week. We are due to exchange on our sale in a couple of weeks with the buyers solicitor pushing for completion shortly after! The people we're buying from are getting twitchy too. In a worse case scenario we will have to complete, be homeless not knowing if we will get the mortgage. If I'm correct reading the posts trying to escalate an application doesn't seem to make any difference. Such worrying times - good luck everyone x
I rang platform direct for the first time this week and know more now than the 7 weeks it's been with my broker. The people at platform are really nice and helpful. I called on Monday and they advised that my broker had not informed them that I had uploaded documents. Platform then put an urgent chase for the file to be considered within 3 working days. I called them yesterday to try my luck and they advised it is due to be looked at today. I asked what has actually happened so far and thy advised that it has been through valuation and they needed one more bit of info to make an offer which was the payslips my broker didn't tell them was uploaded.

For peace of mind I would recommend calling them once a week as this could help move things along.
I have called them every week since our application was received on 7th August. The last few weeks I have called twice at least and I will say that our application has not been accelerated by any of my calls. I was quite desperate yesterday when I called yesterday morning as our buyer were threatening to pull out if we didn't exchange due to our delays with waiting for an offer from our bank. Platform were unmoving. I wouldn't be surprised if chains have collapsed due to our bank's delays.
Oh no I really feel for you. I'm going to get on to our MA and push them and also contact Platform myself. One can only try... and hope! I hope you get an offer soon x
  • Hi,

just adding my timescales and advice.

Application submitted 31st July,  survey carried out on 5th August and offer received today! At first it was silence for weeks then they started asking questions. They come back to us asking question or for additional documents 4 times between application and offer. At first it was a few queries on myself nothing major as I am employed. A couple of weeks later it was then questions on my partner (I don’t understand why they don’t ask for everything at once that would really speed up the process) my parter has his own business so his queries were more tax related. For anyone who is self employed all applications now have to go through a senior underwriter since Covid. For the last two weeks I have personally called every single day and called up each time new documents have been uploaded. I wish I had started calling sooner and that would be my advice to anyone too - my MA was calling once a week too but it wasn’t getting things moving quick enough. Today we finally received an offer and I honestly think I had not been calling consistently then we would still be waiting.

good luck to everyone, I know how awful the wait is!

    Wow, congrats!
What was the timescales of being offered the mortgage and it landing on your doorstep?

two months I’ve been waiting for a decision, takes the biscuit!
  • Update from my broker today is. Platform are currently working on applications submitted on 14th August.

Amazing news on your offer. Crazy how long it takes.
  • I spoke to Platform direct today for the first time & they told me they were looking at cases from 26th August, they told my MA they were working on cases from 14th last Thursday so they seem to be catching up pretty fast

When I called platform last night they told me it had been passed to offer stage then this morning my MA received the offer via email and sent it to me. They said it’s in the post to me too.

So looks like they might be spot on with their timescales. They told me 14 working days for offer to be sent. 2nd Oct next week will be 14 working days for us. Your timescales seem to match up with this estimate. Hopefully we shall have an offer before end of next week.

We shall still be homeless for a few days as it will be too tight for our solicitor to draw down on the funds and complete by 8th October.

Question - I'm assuming that we still have to first sign the offer received in the post and send it back before funds can be released to our Solicitors? Is this not required?
  • Hi All,
    Just adding my timescales
    19th Aug - Application Submitted

21st Aug - Survey had been carried out - House was undervalued... went back to the vendors to offer them less and they accepted. MA advised Platform of this change in house price.

9th Sept - MA rang platform, they said we are still in a que

14th Sept - MA rang platform again, they said they were working on applications from 12th August. Its looking like another 8 working days before they get to ours.

21st Sept - MA emailed Platform (didn't hear back from them)

22nd Sept - MA emailed again in the AM (still didn't hear back by dinner). Rang them at dinner time to be told they will look at our by the end of business day tomorrow (23rd). She rang me at 4.50pm to say she has finally had an email back from Platform to say we are still in a que but they have an enquiry with one payment going out of my husband account. Told her what it was so she went back to them.

23rd Sept - MA said she just happened to look on the system and we have an OFFER!!!! The offer will be in the post shortly. Solicitors called us at dinner to say that they have received our offer and they can no proceed.
