    Hi Vik,

We have an older thread on hangover cures, so I'll merge your thread into it. I hope you feel better soon. :)

What your body is telling you is that it's dehydrated and it needs to get rid of those nasty toxins (shame those toxins taste good though...). So, a big greasy fryup would be a start because it'll help to absorb lots of nasties which then get flushed out of your system. However, if you're so far gone a fryup is out of the question, I would suggest a pint of water on the hour, a paracetamol with your first one, and a big glass of orange juice on the half hour until you start feeling a bit better. If you still can't face the greasy fryup, then eggs cooked however you feel like it are also useful.

oooo thank you! it really is that bad today, im struggling to drink water tbh!

when i'm out boozin i stop by the 24hr bakery on the way home and get a tin of irn bru, it works wonders. i tried diet the last time to be good to my diet and it sucked!

greasy food is best too, the worst (and last) time i was ill i was throwing up a cup ot tea at half ten the next night  bizarrely i remember all of the night too, no blank patches (mores the pity!). anyway i went to the chinese after trying the cup of tea and that went down well, after that i was able to have some juice.

incidentally, tea is almost as pleasent coming up as it is going down. sweet and warm :rotfl:

I have always had 2 slices of white bread with butter and peanut butter and a pint of water before going to bed. Certainly helps. But then, I get tipsy on a couple of glasses of wine, so I suppose it depends on how much you've had to drink.

(By the way, it has to be exactly as I said or it doesn't work. No idea why!)

Count your drinks! for every pint equivilant have a pint of water when you get in. Shots are calculated as 25ml = 1/2 pint. Small wine glasses are about 1/2 a pint, adjust as needed.

Next consume at least two slices of marmite on buttery toast. This'll replace some of those minerals you'll be loosing later ;- )

Good night sleep with the window open a bit so you're not knocked out by the smell of that kebab you probably had on the way home!

On awakening if you have a headache or feel dizzy take two to three asprin (always read the label!) and have a warm shower followed by a fry up (more of those minerals and salts!)

    Works even when totally wasted!

  • Any time I overdo things, I always make sure I have two large glasses of water with a paracetemol before going to bed. Then, during the night if I have to get up to go to the loo (and I ALWAYS have to go to loo when I've been drinking) I drink more water.

In my younger days, a chicken and mushroom with fried rice from the Chinese takeaway always worked wonders for me. I had to wait until 4.00 p.m. for them to open, which wasn't that late really as I normally didn't get up until 2 in the afternoon anyway. :rotfl:

Gallons of coffee (read somewhere recently that coffee does actually help the liver repair itself) - it can make you throw up, but sometimes that's no bad thing. Then, as soon as possible, get yourself to the nearest greasy spoon and have an all day breakfast - not very MSE, but neither was squandering all that money on the demon drink in the first place!

  • Ok, assuming you already have the hangover put a couple of drops of rosemary oil in the bath, inhale deeply and relax. Have a good scrub, dry off and head for the kitch. Make the BIGGEST fried egg/bacon/sausage (whatever floats your boat) sarnie with lots of ketchup/brown sauce. Eat. Get back into bed. Simple!

Ooooh great thread :D Oldie but goodie :D

I was told by someone in the medical profession to have an antacid tablet before drinking copious amounts of alcohol, then take one before bed and if necessary one in the morning. (making sure to follow instructions so as not to take too many in a 24 hour period).

So now, I adopt the following avoidance procedure :D

    antacid before drinking
    water and antacid after drinking
water thru the night if I wake
antacid (and maybe painkillers if needed) upon waking in morning
    banana/slimfast drink :D
    decent brekkie/lunch

I haven't had a hangover since... Just the tiredness that follows a drunken night

    :D

    Hi all,

I've been reading this with a chuckle or two.

I down two pints of water before bed, and a few dry crackers (water biscuits are good), then when I wake up I tend not to have any trouble. If my stomach is still unhappy (the headache is usually taken care of by the water) I sip full fat coke flattened with a few shakes of sugar and munch a few more water biscuits.

If all else fails, roll over for another hour or so, and let your body do its thing!
