I live in Nottingham and contacted 15 companies for quotes for EWI. Out of those only 1 company came out to do a Survey and quoted £12,000 for what should be an £8,000 job. I am entitled (in theory) to the £10k grant, so they were pushing for me to take finance out with them, which I will not do. They also wanted me to sign a form so that they could apply for the grant for me, which I also would not do. They would not supply me with a written quote unless I signed the agreement that they could make the grant application for me, which was clearly designed to pressure me into signing up with them.  I managed to get another quote virtually by sending in photos and measurements of my house, so I have applied using that quote. Luckily the company checks out OK as far as I can tell from my research. The other 13 companies did not return calls and emails or said they weren't interested due to being over subscribed with work.

So I'm not they only person having problems.  I don't blame you for not taking out finance, this company sounds very unscrupulous, they should be reported but who do you report them to?
  • Any ideas how you apply if you are one of 17 flat owners with share of freehold. We need solid wall insulation plus overcladding for our whole block but it will be treated as one job with shared payment by 17. This won’t work, I assume, if we have to get individual quotes per flat owner. Is there a helpline?
  • Yes there is a helpline for SEA 0800444202 but sadly they are not very helpful.  Good look!

Hello, applying for the New Green Homes grant today - trying to clarify as to wether spending as an example - 15k on  External wall insulation with the Voucher providing £5k am I then able to claim a secondary measure for an additional £5k ?

    thanks in advance,
You get 5k in total.  If you spend that on primary measures then that's it.

So on that basis, if you have several primary measures on your list, you only get one lot of £5k (?). I was also wondering if I could do one primary measure for £5k then come back again for a second go, but having read the first 19 pages of this forum, it looks that I'd run out of time even if it was possible.
The total value of the grant is £5k maximum (if you're not on benefits.)  You could come back for a second go if your first voucher was less than this but you can't exceed the £5k limit for all the vouchers combined.  So if you got one for £3k, you'd be limited to £2k for the second.  This, of course, would be for a primary measure as there does not appear, as yet, any way to get a voucher for secondary measures unless you're getting primary measures done at the same time.

I applied for the voucher on Wednesday (the day the scheme opened) and have yet to hear back. Has anyone applied for the voucher? If so when? Have you heard back yet? Would be good to keep in touch here and see how everyone is getting on.

Hi, Same here I applied as soon the offer went live, after submitting my application my Reference number was displayed on the screen but no confirmation email as yet.
Going by other messages on this forum we are not the only one`s not received the confirmation emails..

I applied on opening day (30/9 iirc) and received confirmation email immediately (which is basically the reference number which you already have and some waffle about extra information if they need it).

I'm not expecting the voucher for at least two weeks because 1) they (should) do checks 2) government schemes historically are not the most efficient 3) probably overrun with claims
