Mutual funds are a waste of money. End of. They NEVER out perform the market. (over time). You are throwing money away even entertaining them.

It really doesnt take long to make your own sensible and tailored porfolio. Set and forget! Just check it once a year and re-adjust vs your risk tolerance. I suggest reading a few books on investing.

Here is my current allocations. (Which is 55% of my total assest pot).

One should not use 'mutual funds' because it is throwing money away even entertaining them and you should make your own tailored portfolio? Though in making your own tailored portfolio, the chart shows that you have chosen to put the 70% which isn't in govt bonds and TIPs, into funds/collective investment schemes, rather than stocks or individual properties.

Perhaps you are confusing 'mutual fund' (US terminology for an open-ended collective investment fund which can have an actively-managed or passive (index) strategy) with 'actively managed investment fund' (some of which will outperform the market, and some of which will underperform the market).

I have always understood the phrase "Mutual fund" to mean actively managed accounts.
A mutual fund is a type of investment vehicle, just like ETF or investment trusts are a type of investment vehicle. In Europe, we have specific types of open-ended funds such as OEICs, Unit Trusts, ICVCs, SICAVs, FCPs etc formed under local law and regulation but being analogous to the US 'mutual fund'

Whereas phrases such as 'index fund' or 'an actively managed fund' speak to how the capital is managed, rather than the form of the regulated collective investment scheme itself.

I've been pleasantly entertained by my SMT holdings over the last 15 years..... I don't begrudge the active managers their fees as they've been doing a fine job... my only complaint is they are a hard share to buy as they are nearly always at an all time high....

I sold my SMT shares just over a year ago as I was concerned about the volatility and didn't fancy holding on to them during a crash.... fast forward to this year and...
To be fair though I did get a 60% return over about 18 months but clearly should have held on as my return would now be 160%

Presumably you bought something with the proceeds though so can't have been all bad.  Unless it was Woodford.......

Not ADR, it is a regular stock. If you use Trading212 you could buy many US stocks but it is always priced in US$
