Good to see you didn't make any 'punctation' errors yourself when delivering the reprimand

They just announced their first potentially company making RNS signing an agreement with AATAC.
Valuation is reasonable, in normal times the div yield was 2% with 3x cover (the UK average is about a 2/3 payout ratio or 1.5x cover, implying if ABF were paying out the same the yield would be an average 4% for a quality co) and majority owned by a family and foundation which to me indicates good governance and management (though I haven't researched it well enough to buy it, it is a co I would buy if index funds weren't available). My speculative punt is Kistos which was launched yesterday headed up by Andrew Austin of RRE fame! You can’t base future returns on history so this really is a punt, but I’m happy with it.0 -

The more research you do , the less the risk becomes but since the unexpected can always happen you can by no means eliminate the risk. Research beforehand has often stopped me making costly mistakes. Research should be ongoing. It may indicate that a share is worth buying but may also indicate a time to sell a share.
If you do have an edge then, as a (sort of) passive investor, I'd like to thank you for pointing me towards the best places to place my capital.
What most people call research is nothing more than trying to find evidence to support a gut feel - feeding a bias.
Most people would be better served by researching things they can control i.e. how to use platforms / lowering costs / diversification / increasing savings rate etc.0 -

Switchback Energy (SBE) is the way in and I intend to make a small investment. In my personal opinion EV sector creates an ecosystem of business and opportunity. Not just Nio, Tesla, Xpeng, Li, BYDIt is from mining nobel raw metal such as Copper, Nickel, Lithium. It is predicted with the curent predicted demand of EV production the mining industry will not be able to cope with demand. If you see the stock in mining such as Freeport McMoran has jumped significantly.EV Battery manudafcturer like Romeo Power,Charging station like SBE, BlinkFintech: Innovation in Financing. Some companies like Li allow people to buy the car and just rent the battery (20-30%) of the EV price. Not to mention technology for driverless vehicles such as Lidar, and other sensoers, cameras, etc. Apart from mining, Tesla have it all. Many those stocks above have been covered on this thread. Just look at how they perform now.

Absolutely agree, there is a whole tech ecosystem out there which is doing very well at the moment and with huge potential. There are a lot of cross-linkages and synergies with renewables, nanotech, materials etc and as you say links into established sectors like mining, finance and software. Its really quite an exciting time - but like all gold-rush scenarios, there will still plenty of opportunity for those selling "shovels".0

It is a penny stock so it has a lot of room to grow ?I posted this information on 4 November at 2:24PMJust observe how they perfom now. Mine has gone up 96% in just one month. Supposed I did not do cost avaraging while the stock is moving up I would have made 200%+ gain by now. This is not an EV company neither a SPAC stock but 3D printing, so It is not it is not as volatile as those stocks. Observe the price chart movement, no spike, it is a steady upward movement. If an investing diva such as Cathie Wood has been buying a penny stock, it is worthy to invest time to dig further to make an informed decision. Good to observe what she is investing but not to follow her blindly as her investment objective might be different with ours.If you are investing in a vulnarable stock such as penny stock like this without doing your own due diligence, researching the float (volume), Institutional ownerships, insider Trading activities, short seller interest, you might become a victim of pump and dumb. This is just one of many examples where researching could help people avoding a costly mistake.

I approach research with an open mind. I am curious about a company . I most often decide not to invest, based on what I read and actually end-up buying shares in only a few companies. Over the last 50 years I have often heard it said that the stock market only looks ahead as far as the next annual or half-yearly report. Certainly, if you expect an improvement in the next 2 or 3 years either as a result of changes at the company or an improvement or expansion in the market in which the company operates and if you can see steady progress, you may see it as a reason to invest. Not all small companies are well researched, sometimes just a puff-piece from time to time from the in-house broker. If you have a good knowledge of a small company, you can sometimes use this to your advantage . If a piece of bad news breaks which causes shares in that sector to fall sharply, you may perhaps quickly realise that the news has little or no effect on your company and may use it as an opportunity to buy more shares cheaply. At long last my 'tech' shares have finally risen sharply in the last year but I am currently underwater with my other small company shares but will continue to top-up from time to time as usual, since none has given me reason for concern.0
