  • Mentioned Alien Metals (UFO.L) when they were 0.4p, now 1.27p. Might still be worth a look.
Bought Alba Minerals since then, another punt.

Yes I have them - in profit on them, which you won't be surprised to hear given they're at an all time high; I only bought in about six months ago while the share price was emerging from the short-lived Covid dip. Their share price is up about 25% in Euros this year and they are probably a little more than that share price growth rate as an average compounded for each of the last 5 years, a bit more modest before that.  I don't see them as one that will 'set the world alight' with a quick doubling as a speculative punt such as OP had been seeking, but hopefully the above-average growth rates will continue looking forward.

I only have something like €2000 invested in them (under a percent of my pension) but it was closer to £1k when I invested so no complaints over the short timescale  - acknowledging that returns since April are pretty meaningless but at least it's continuing to go the right direction.

For anyone looking in, they trade on Euronext under the simpler ticker AMS:DSM.   I suppose the 0NPP is for a London CDI?

Interesting one, upto 1.27, over 50% increase today. Was at 430 9 years ago. What went wrong?

Bought my holding in early April when I was looking to disperse my realised cash balance into a more ESG "future proof " orientated portfolio.  In sterling terms up 37% year to date. Though I credit much of this to the temporary market dip at the time. A share that I'll certainly hold for the foreseeable future.

Ok so I've just put the money I made on TSLA 50/50 into NET and BYND.

Shouldnt have sold my (very modest) Nio. Up big time today.
  • I'm curious are any of you beating a world tracker over a meaningful time with your speculative shares? Do some of you even use trackers or do you just do everything yourselves.

World trackers are a surprisingly recent addition if one wishes to make comparisons. Past 10 years likewise has been the era of domination by a select few. Personally I use a mix of Investment Trusts, ETF's and direct share holdings now.  In years past never had the time I do now to spend on managing my portfolio.  So had a much greater passive focus. Also as the portfolio has grown in value over the years. Holding individual shares has become far more economic. My baseline now is £2,500 for an individual equity holding. I rarely buy shares without looking in detail at the company. Speculative for me isn't penny share or pure punts. Solid financials, in particular cash generation are key.

  • Don't know if it has been mentioned before but some Covid stocks could reap rewards.
Novacyt (NCYT) has exploded over the last 6 months.  First mover in testing arena and secured Government contract
Omega Diagnostics (ODX) also worth looking at as is TILS (Stemprimer split at month end so need to be quick!), GDR also.

Greatland Gold (GGP) has had a good rise and more expected from them in the coming months.

Failing that, mainstream stocks such as BP and L&G, banks all very cheap at the moment.

Not advise but illustrating some areas of research for you.  Good luck!

Interesting. Id love to do something like that myself but i can tell just from being in this forum the last 6 months that i don't know enough. Still reading different things at the mo, i don't know if il ever go for putting 2.5k in multiple individual shares but maybe 2 or 3 along with my trackers id be comfortable with.
