How about Nanoco - they’re currently suing Samsung, so potential for a big windfall there :)

That or HUR, think I’ve mentioned that before.  Watch out for its RNS/interim results September 11th.

$ is slowly drifting. Be $1.35 soon.

Indeed. That is the reason why even you see you make a gain a few bucks from the  historical price in US$ it might be showing negative in £ due to poor £/US$ the exhache rate when you bought it.
But from another side when you buy US$ stock from the same sterling you get from selling the US$ stock you will get more US$ stock with your £.
Better to have a $ Account in that case or the fx costs will kill you .

Well, the Nio I bought at 15 is down at 13.5 but the tsla at 1500 [just the 4 for a quick buck) is currently a gnats todger off 2000.
    NIO is now US$17.68.
My Tortoise Acquitition - Hyllion (SHLL) It was red a month ago, but it is now  making 45% gain. I am expecting them to jump when they finally go for an IPO expected by the end of September.
My WKHS is currently just making 2.43%. They are still among the three finalist of USPS contract but I am expecting them to jump signiicantly when they win USPS  contract. But anyway this stock is good for along term hold as they could convet the old Trcuk to become a more friendly electric truck.
I still believe a value investing for along term holding.

In many cases I will need the cash already in my account so, I could do buy/sell instantly to get the best possible entry/exit. I know trading 212 is only doing General Investment, CFD and ISA. I have not seen them offering forex. But they do not charge loading/fee for transaction on foreign currency. I have not had a closer look, I wonder if Trading 212 offer a US$ account ??

Stiff competition from Ford for that $6B+ contract.
ICE trucks don't need additional cost of electric charging.
USPS may be forced down the politically correct EV route.
But can WKHS build 200,000 trucks on their own?
If they don't get the contract they could go back to 82 cents a share.
Sales for the last quarter was $91,000!!! (yes 91 thousand).

(I hold WKHS for the gamble)

Good point about the last quarter sales. With high reward stock there is always be some level of speculation. But about going back to 82c? It might be but that chance is distantly very low imo considering in 2015 they were already US$9. They are the favourable last mile vehicle and has established relationship with well-known courier services such as Fedex. Production capacity is something to do with capital adding produciton line to meet the demand.

Regarding the requirement for EV for USPS? Well, it is the future requirement and it gets supported by the Republican and Democrat. So, whoever win the election, it does not really matter.  The contenders with ICE will have a very low chance to win the USPS contract. They have a future target of low emission / emission free.

At the moment I keep cost avaraging it down when the price fall to the level I am expecting.

  • I wonder why Rivian isn't in the running for the USPS contract, they have the Amazon contract to supply 100,000 EV Vans.
Or even BYD who have more experience than anyone with EV Vans/Trucks/Buses. The USPS contract mentions the Vans have to be built in the US, BYD could easily setup a US factory if they haven't got one?

Come on Elon, build a VAN!!! there's some big contracts there.

  • TSLA six month gain = 168%
NIO six month gain = 355%

Since I started this thread, buying Tesla and Nio at pretty much same time, Tesla is up about 43% and Nio 33%. So since I was "forced" to buy the Nio in my SIPP at least the Tesla money in my ISA, is more easily accessible.
So my plan is to sell the Tesla sometime Monday after the split and then buy something with the £8k or so.  Did someone here mention SEA? Though that's had a fantastic run recently. Will look through again for other suggestions.
Probably will let the Nio ride a while.
