Stamp Duty Holiday - Back Dated?

But the government is also spending a vast amount of money on direct support via furloughing etc, so where would the funds be coming from to refund taxes which they've already collected and spent? And why would they want to be seen to be making a form of u-turn (or at least a diversion) from a policy which they've already thought about and enacted? It's not going to happen, if the government think there's more support needed for the housing market I expect they'll do something different in the future, not start backdating the SDLT rules.0

No, and rightly so - and I also lost out on the first-time buyer stamp duty reduction by a few weeks.
Just the way it is I'm afraid!0

Here is the petition for those looking to sign it. Please do sign it to backdate as I think this pandemic is a very different situation to other cut offs and I personally think it is unfair to those who bought a house when the housing market opened before the announcement on the holiday.

5441 signatures so far. If lucky they might be 0.1% as successful as the Revoke Article 50 one.SDLTBackdate said: /petition.parliament.uk/petitions/310695 /petition.parliament.uk/petitions/310695

Rather than people wasting their time on this SDLT rubbish, could I ask that people put their efforts into something a bit more sensible instead -Make nit nurses mandatory in schoolsI feel it is totally unfair for lots of children to suffer with nits due to a few parents who don’t check and go through their children’s hair. I believe if we were to bring back the nit nurse, there would be a huge decrease in cases of nits.

Rather than complain you paid stamp duty before the change, just move again and benefit from it. It's what Rishi would have wanted.5

There's a petition on Parliament UK - search 'Abolish stamp duty' and click on the one that's linked to coronavirus. Also, write to your MP.Abz26 said:Hi,
I recently completed the purchase of our house. And was just wondering is there any chance of claiming back the stamp duty I paid due to the announcement made this morning?
As my mortgage offer was due to expire beginning of May I had to push the sale through or risking losing the property all together. Just want to get a feel for what my options could be, if anything?
 thanks in advanced.-1

            Hi all,
I'm out of pocket £15k for completing on the 1st. There's a petition on Parliament UK - search 'Abolish stamp duty' and click on the one that's linked to coronavirus. Also, write to your MP. If the petition gets to 10k signatures they have to respond.
 Worth a go!-2
