Stamp Duty Holiday - Back Dated?

Hi,
I recently completed the purchase of our house. And was just wondering is there any chance of claiming back the stamp duty I paid due to the announcement made this morning?
As my mortgage offer was due to expire beginning of May I had to push the sale through or risking losing the property all together. Just want to get a feel for what my options could be, if anything?
thanks in advanced.

We completed a week ago today and exchanged a day prior to that. Can't see that there is any route back even if the rules say it needs to be paid within 30 daysOuch. That's £12k we won't see again.1

Same position - I completed 2 weeks ago! So frustrating!

Stamp duty changes are designed to encourage people to buy. You did not need any encouragement, so why would they want to backdate it for you? I bought my last house 10 years ago, can it be backdated to then too?17
