You sure they not just pocketing the Stamp Duty themselves? No need to pay stamp duty until after completion (up to 30 days after). Where is info about when the holiday is valid from and the details? If I have already made and have an offer accepted, but not completed, will I qualify, or is it for brand new sales?0

As I’ve understood it, it’s from today. So any exchange/completion that takes place as from today, you’re exempt from stamp duty0

Had our house up for sale over a year. Two transactions fell through and managed to find a buyer through the pandemic. Agreed a significantly reduced price if the transaction moved quickly as we were getting fed up of the process and had found a house to purchase. Completed a week ago, house needs significant works and cost just over £10k in SDLT. We would absolutely love some of this back even if it’s just half, come on mr chancellor be fair to those who are in a similar position....1

If they're getting a mortgage, the solicitor will want it ahead of completion. Doesn't sound as though it's due now though so expect a refund if completing today (as far as I'm aware).moneysavinghero said:

We should have completed today but our vendor wanted it rushing through to completed completed Friday. I have just lost my job Monday and the £4000 paid for stamp duty would of secured us for a couple of months. Absolutely devastated. I hope they back date it.1
