6 minutes - Never left car - £100 fine

Options
I have received a ticket for pulling into a car space  for 6 minutes but never leaving the car. My wife had to get a drink of water for my 3 year old son who had got in tantrum and got very worked up. It was a private carpark and they have camera images of my wife leaving the car and coming back with the drink in hand.

Is this allowed or should I just bite the bullet and pay? I have emailed them explaining the situation but need to pay by the end of this week to make it 60 instead of 100 pound.

  • The ppc is one parking solution and it took place in Worthing. I will check through the newbie message board too. I struggled to find any where people hadn't left the car and such a short period of time.  Thanks for the replies

It's the remaining on a private site that counted , not the leaving the vehicle or not

Download and read the BPA CoP , clause 13 , grace periods

Then read the Newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum

    1. It is not a fine, it is an invoice from an ex-clamper to compensate them for the alleged harm they suffered when you did what you did. We call it a scam. Pay them not a penny unless a judge so orders it.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP., it can cause the scammer extra costs, and in some cases, cancellation.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up later this year,

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these companies, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
