Of course the industry hasn't learned anything useful about the false £70 except they've got away with that alleged price-fix for a few years and have nearly got it past the Government, too, for the new Code of Practice coming in this year. That's why they are demanding £340 instead of £200.

Is the Defendant on the letters your wife?

If it was a courtesy car, did the garage name her as hiring/using it when they first got the PCNs in the post?

You've done everything right so far but when she gets the claim you will need to start a new Discussion on page one.
Many thanks for such a quick response.

Yes the defendant is my wife, i'm just doing all the researched and paperwork for her until if/when we receive a court date.

Yes the garage must have named her as the driver as that is how I assume they got her contact details.

I will look to set up new discussion shortly on page one, many thanks again

The LBC is on behalf of Smart Parking Ltd but the payment forms are addressed to DRP.

I will look to set up a new thread shortly, many thanks again

This is a group thread where posters reside to get support from others in a similar position until they receive a LBC when they are encouraged to start their own thread.
  • Sadly CST Law (Credit Style) are back on the gravy train again.

In 2021 they bomarded SCOTLAND on behalf of UKPC with very old claims and false information.  The advice for the motorist was to complain to their MP.
The letters stopped and we never saw any cases going to court.

CST Law are now using the same tactics to frighten people into paying in England and Wales

    Currently there are two letters

One saying they are instructed by DRP (Debt Recovery Plus)
DRP CANNOT INSTRUCT A LEGAL BECAUSE ANY SO CALLED DEBT DOES NOT BELONG TO THEM.
In the private parking scam debt collectors are not allowed to purchase such debts and this is fake information
ANYTHING TO DO WITH DRP must be ignored completely as they are 100% POWERLESS ?

The other says they are instructed by the actual parking company and ask you to pay DRP ?   DRP have nothing to do with this ... DRP are simply middlemen attempting to cash in on the motorists lack of knowledge
And, if CST claim debt recovery charges increase the amount, that is another feeble attempt to extort money because DRP offer parking companies a "no win no fee" service which means if DRP failed to collect from you, there was NO debt collection fee to pass on
    SPOT THE SCAM ?

Regardless, CST will add either £60 or £70 because they are mates with DRP

The one sure fact is you DO NOT owe the scam add-on.

Now is the time for your MP to get involved and contact CST Law to ask why they send out false information.  Your MP and yourself should complain to the SRA (The Solicitors Regulation Authority) about false and misleading information.
Your MP should also copy in Mr Neil O'Brien MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Levelling Up, The Union and Constitution)

Mr O'Brien is currently in charge of the new forthcoming code of practice for private parking companies

Both Credit Style Limited, T/A CST Law and .... Debt Recovery Plus are members of the BPA
The question for Mr O'Brien must be why do the BPA allow members to harass the motorist and public with false and misleading information. Is the BPA fit for purpose ???   NO

You do not want these people to walk all over you with fakery, and your MP is the right person to act in a professional manner to get the private parking industry cleaned up.  Of course that will depend if your MP wants you vote for them next time

  • Hi everyone,

I received in the last 6 months many letters from DRP. First letter received on the 21/07/21, because I was "Parking on private land without a valid permit and/or Authorization", which was not true, because at that time I was fully authorised by a person living in a building on that road as I was loading some of her stuff in the car. I made an appeal but they refused to listen to my reasons and they rejected my appeal. Following the advice in the newbies thread, I ignored the next letters.

Today I received a CST LAW letter saying they are on behalf of DRP as agent of Parking Enforcement and Security Services. Same amount requested, 170£.
Now I really don't know what to do. Should I ignore this letter aswell?
This situation is stressing me out. Not only me, my wife aswell. We are afraid that this stupid fine will affect our credit score and we don't want any trouble as we are in the first stage to get a mortgage for our first house.

What should I do? Thanks in advance for your advices.

Just more CST rubbish promoting DRP and adding a fake £70

IGNORE. If you get a letter before claim, start your own thread for help.

As well as being authorised, keep in mind that you were not parked. Loading/unloading is not parking.

Keep that point in your head for later.

This issue cannot affect your credit score unless or until it progresses to court, and you then lose the case, and you then fail to pay what the Judge orders within the timescale allowed.
Keep in mind that most cases featured on this board are not lost. By 'most' I mean well over 90%.

Oh... and it is not a fine.   :)
