in Credit cards
Iv had a credit card for a while now and the balance was barely coming down, this week iv came into some money so had the chance to clear the balance.
The balance was 2900 so paid this on Friday however I didn't realise the date and my new statement was generated today. I had almost £100 interest added to the account and the payment due for July is now saying £135.
The issue is once the 2900 payment is processed this should only leave a balance of the interest added today but the expected payment amount is 135.
Will the credit card company readjust that so I only pay the interest added as if I pay the 135 I am then paying more than the total balance?

Every day you had a balance in your last statement cycle, interest will have been calculated in the background.Estimated interest on a previous statement and actual interest on a current statement show this difference. If this is actual interest it should be correct. Thanks for replying. I don't think the interest is incorrect, but the interest is for 98 so once the 2900 I paid on Friday shows as an actual transaction rather than pending the full balance on the card will be the 98 interest but they are asking for minimum payment of 135 on the 20th July as obviously the statement was based on the higher balance.
My query is that I will be expected to pay 135 when the actual balance is now on 98, so will they accept just the 98 or will I have to pay the 135?0 -
sounds like you've paid by debit card and the statement has been produced between the time the payment has been made by you and received/processed by them.Don't look at the the minimum payment on the new statement - what is the statement balance due if you were to pay in full?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Yes that is what happened, I didn't realise the date as I was just wanting to pay the card as soon as I got the money to do so.
The actual account balance will be £98 but the statement balance is 2998 as my payment of 2900 wasn't processed in time before the statement was produced and isn't showing as a transaction yet which is why they are asking for 135 on the payment date this later month.

if the statement balance is showing 2998 and you have subsequently paid 2900 then that will more than cover the135 minimum.
you can pay the remaining 98 now or wait until the next statement is produced and then pay that.0 -
Pay the £98 when you can then use the credit card to put a few transactions through and pay off in full each month - create a good habit and good history of borrowing and paying back and not paying interest.

Speak with the CC company and they will give you the correct amount outstanding after your payment.
