I reiterate - again - I am not knocking off FD saving account and indeed I have one ( or Marcus or any other account ). It's no good to the poster though as he/she had been declined repeatedly for the aforementioned account anyway, so my suggestion was to let it go and apply somewhere else. FD saving account is a decent account but by no means ONLY account with respectable returns.0 -
Alright, help me with this. Which ones exactly are better than Marcus, on a like-for-like basis, i.e. unlimited instant access? And which ones come even close to Regular Saver returns?floppydisk1 said:

It's all there colsten you can compare them to Marcus that is now 0.70 % , I really don't want to argue online...... As poster was turned down for FD account REPEATEDLY it's not much of a point dragging it back and headline 2.75 % ( as it's drip fed over whole year ) is in effect bit over half of that - hence my saying the difference is not 1.75 % but some 30 odd quid over parking full £ 3600 and let it accrue interest for full year. You like FD regular saving account - I do too - it still does not change the fact that poster had been turned down for a FD account so CAN'T have FD regular saver. So my suggestion was to check some building society or any other protected saving account and pick something decent one.0

I appreciate both yours comments, I'm male btw
I was initially rejected a FD with an overdraft and FD customer services suggest reapplying without an overdraft which also got rejected. I did apply for an M&S current account which also got turned down. I have a HSBC account and won't apply to the HSBC group until mid next year. It's the first time I've been turned down, which is likely because I've applied for alot of current accounts recently to take advantage of the switch bonuses.
