Digital Photo Frames - advice please?

have downloaded the Cropping software, but cannot work out how to get a Portrait picture on the Landscape screen. Does that make sense?
Assuming you have set right setting in Image Cropper, then it should always output an image of the correct size to suit you frame. And it will also adjust the 'marquee' ( the lines/rectangle which you can drag around the image) to be the right aspect ratio to suit the frame.
Of course if the picture was a very full frame of a face - you aren't going to be able to get it all in the marquee to suit a landscape display
When displaying a portrait image i,e. taller than wider, you can select using the marquee the important bit of the picture you want to see when its on the frame.
Depending on the how much or how little of the image you may have to set the marquee to include some of the border (as displayed in Image cropper) - which will show as black area on LHS/RHS of image - not much that can be done about that, other than select a more suitable picture to work on
But at least its you making the selection of the part of the photo you want to show on the frame, if you leave it to the frame software it will always crop it in the 'wrong' place
In Image cropper you can also rotate pictures, and also change the border colour if you want0 -

We've just bought the 7" one that Argos currently have at £35 (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5701957/Trail/searchtext%3EDIGITIAL+PHOTO+FRAME.htm) and you have to go through a bit of a rigmarole to get it to do a slideshow (which is unfortunate as it's for hubby's parents, who are possibly the least technologically literate people I know). From main menu, select Photo (as opposed to Video), select one of the thumbnails displayed, Enter to display it, Enter to go into picture display menu, THEN select slideshow option.bob_a_builder wrote: »One thing to consider is - does it plug in a play right away or do you have to press fiddly buttons etc to get it showing pictures each time you switch it on - if so probably not ideal for the oldies !
A few months ago I bought the one that eBuyer had for about £30 and that DID have this feature, but I can't find it on their site now.0 -
I've bought my parents one from tesco for £35. It has a usb so takes a flash memory stick as well as all the different cards, which will make it easier for dad to transfer pictures between PC and frame (he hasn't got a digital camera, but often receives photos of family as email attachments). Runs slideshow automatically when turned on, and adjusts photo size to best fit on screen. Can be set up portrait or landscape. I'd quite like one for myself!Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0

Hi I am going shopping for a digital photo frame this weekend as I want to give one as a present to my Auntie for Xmas. Can anyone tell me if I can use a USB memory stick with these instead of a memory card as these are old photos that have been "rescued" from an old hard drive of my deceased uncle. Does anyone know?
