Awww thanks you two!!!....Seaxwyn the mortgage I got in Jan was a lifetime tracker following BOE base rate +0.49% it is a totally flexible tracker ...it's guaranteed to follow that rate for life....can't see me overpaying much this year though as I want to clear the CCs first then the loans will finish in due course in 2011 so want to pay as much as possible in the offset as soon as possible....
Sorry about the CC business abroad I think most CCs do that ...I never use CCs abroad as I'm frightened of them being skimmed/cloned etc...I only use cash abroad.
Sophiesmum.....re the cards I play them at their own game and it's always nice to get something back for what I'm spending...I will try to remember to post them in here as I go and maybe it will help people ...
I put absolutely everything I can on CB cards but the important rule is to have a DD set up to take the payment in full for these each month.so that they don't attract interest.
It's quite exciting here at the moment as things are going well.DD won't be getting married for about 3 years and I'm happy that SIL has the all clear.
I will try and post on your thread more but don't feel that I do much anyway.
take care and have a good weekend xx0 -
I should really compare these cashback cards. At the moment I put big purchases on my Tesco CC and pay off in full. So I get points on that but I am not sure if I could be getting a better deal with a cashback card? Mmm will look into it, thanks Taxi.
I've made £70 in pigsback vouchers already this year which I am pleased with as last year I didn't really bother with it as I thought it was a waste of time, silly me! Only really do a couple of the survey sites though as I find them too time consuming and then get filtered out so stick to a couple and thats it for them.
Sorry for the hi jack Taxi

It's not a hijack..how did you make £70 in pigsback ..I'm finding it really hard to make any and the survey sites are pretty useless as well...
Have a look at the small print on them all before deciding...the amex is 5% for the first three months max spend £4k..£200 cashback..then tiered rates but is more than my MS card as that is only 1/2 % all the time..so in that case tesco would be better as each point is potentially wotrh 4 points if used on deals IYSWIM..0 -
Hi Taxi re the pigsback points I just went through the list on the thread, which you have probably already done and the big points ones where things like 2000 for Jackpot Joy, 800 credit expert, 500 for refer a friend, 2000 Foxy Bingo and I can't think of the others off the top of my head but all the ones I've mentioned I'm guessing you have already done?
Oh and I'm guessing you use quidco coz thats been a big earner for me for little input.
KM x0 -
I do use quidco when I want to buy something so not often..have made money for insurance etc..so don't make much really.will have to try harder...thanks for that I will have to start looking closer at the offers..0

On quidco I've just opened a goldfish card £41 and also opened an A & L bank account for £50 then the savings account for £20. I've also just opened an ISA with Legal and General and thats £110 cashback thats not tracked yet though. Some have opened the ISA with £50 per month then removed it as soon as the cashback has arrived. There are many more just give me a shout if you want any more.

Morning taxi. Hope today is a busy one taxi wise! Well done on the MS card I got 90 cashback last year on mine...will be less this year as trying not to use it but it is the card I use when I want to pay on cc! Amex declined to give me a card lol! KM yours is coming down really well!! Fab..is that 1600 the end of you debt then?Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0

Hi ISOM yes thats the last of what I class as debt. The way I look at it I will always have car payments (by choice) and mortgage payments (would like to start overpaying on this though but who knows when  ).
I always make sure I change my mortgage deal when it expires and when I get my next car, shortly, it will be 'good debt' as I will be using the system to my advantage.
I'm happy to keep the car and mortgage payments and not class it as debt I must pay off (although obviously in an ideal world I would). I just don't want any extra debt on top of those.
Am I making any sense? That was a long winded way of saying what I mean sorry
Morning Taxi, I hope its been busy at work for you.
See you all later xx0 -
Afternoon all,
Well this morning was really quiet!!!!...but ended up coming home with more than last week...I usually get about £90 a year as well on MS but take it out in lots of £30 as better in my bank than theirs lol..
KM ..you completely mirror my thoughts about debt..car loans I will probably always have for the taxi...mortgage I am going to pay off as much as possible to get rid of it....and I don't want any debts on top of this..of course I will still use CCs but only to make cashback..lol...and always to my own advantage.
You're doing well only £1600 to go..thats great.0 -
Thanks Taxi... before this site I permanantly used my overdraft and it was £2000 and it was permanantly to the max, as each wage went in it paid it off and I started on the overdraft again... since being on this board I have paid back the overdraft and not used it for at least 12 months
The facility is still there but I have become so nerdy about it, its like a mission as the month is ending that I will NOT go into that overdraft
So although I am completely rubbish at putting off the ebay and many of the other challenges (that so many on here are amazing at) I have gained so much from this site
And my shopping bill is generally pretty good too which is down to Tesco Codes from this site and being more savvy about what I buy. All good stuff I'll never be perfect but I'm happy :T
As ever it helps reading all the diaries, like yours Taxi, as you pick up so many tips, habits, motivation and inspiration and it helps to keep me focussed. In fact I don't know what I ever did with my time before this site, its quite ridiculous the amount of time I spend here
