Oh Taxi.... I'm so sorry. I can't believe what you've been going through. Somehow I didn't update onto your thread since Thursday, and you've been going through h*ll.... I am so, so sorry for the situation you find yourself in. I remember studying insurance at college - the first insurance was set up in the sixteenth century, "so the pain of loss goeth lightly upon many, rather than heavily upon few", something like that, it was beautiful. And now you're left with this travesty. Its not right, it really isn't. I'm not good at making jokes in this situation, like Bob and Hypno just above, just want to let you know I really feel for you.

I hope today is bearable. I admire you trying to get the accounts done *now*, I'm terrible with my accounts, I struggle every year and it takes me weeks. Of course, this is a real motivator. We're with you in spirit.

    xx

Morning taxi. I won't be truly debt free either for the next 20 odd years because of the mortgage but there is good debt and bad debt of course - when you are in the position of only having the "debt" of replacing your taxi that'll be good debt - you'll be able to get the best deals and treat it as spreading the payments over time rather than a millstone around your neck. So don't get too despondent. You will get there.

Well done on the accounts. I always leave mine until Jan 29th and then have a frantic panic! Must try and get organised now. If it helps on the list front - write down all the things you need to do to get the accounts done - bring together paperwork, sort, total expenses, shred, do calculations, fill in forms etc. - as separate things - then you can reward yourself (with a little break/chocolate/a glass of wine etc) after you have finished each. Works for me - somehow can face "find paperwork" much more easily than "do accounts"! :)

    Good luck!
  • Mizmir I like the idea of breaking things down like that, especially with accounts! I would love to know if there is ANYONE organised with their accounts as I've not read/heard of anyone that is, but if there is I would love to know their system as it all seemed so overwhelming/boring to me when I had to do mine?!

Hope today is a good one workwise Taxi

Can I still lob it through her window?....joking I think...
I will never be truly debt free for the rest of my life I don't think as taxis need replacing every so many years...in time though I may have saved enough to pay cash outright.
Heres my list today: not as long as others granted but will take me ages
    (1) go to work
    (2) get the accounts done ASAP as our loss of earnings etc rely on this...you can't imagine how much paperwork I have to sort through......ahhhhhhhhhhhhh...so tonight I start....binbags and shredder ready.....pen paper and calculator ...ready....
My aim is to have all paperwork shredded/sorted tonuight and all figures on paperwork tomorrow.

Have a good day everyone...I'm off to work now

keep laughing hun...and i know you will get through all of this.....:T

I have plans like that as well..i get a weird satisfaction from shredding stuff..makes me feel good.

Do you know i reckon you will have everything paid off quicker than you can blink..you are very organised and have a good capacity for earning the dosh and a brilliant work ethic......so onwards and upwards..now be on the watch for Mazz, if she earns a fortune at the bingo, surely she can give you a big tip..and it is raining..loads of folks want taxis in the rain...:rotfl:
Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:

Hope it is raining in Blackpool as hard as it is here in Yorkshire - absolutely bucketing down now! I would take a taxi to get to my car in this weather :D
Hope you have a good shift taxi.

Well this morning was a disaster I have sat 3 hours in the pouring down rain waiting to be picked up as I broke down and it was the same fault as last week!!!!!!..........I'm fuming.I also put £58 of fuel in that car yesterday.I'm just about to phone the director of the hire firm again!!!!!!...he's giving me a new car on monday...that doesn't solve the weekend of no earnings....I also need the money to pay my accountant.
I do my accounts like that sorting through all the bags /drawers etc..then I put them into months...then I write it all out and then I give it to the accountant....I have so many drawers bags etc to look through though...I hate it.
  • OMG Taxi thats awful how frustrating!!!!!

From your posts it sounds like you deal with most of the books, phone calls, hassle etc resulting from the accident? Can you delegate some of it to OH?

    Good luck with the books.

Oh no taxi! So sorry to hear about your problems - seems to be one thing on top of another at the moment for you :( - will the hire company compensate you for any of this? Or the insurance? After all you pay it to get a replacement car so you can carry on working not to have all this hassle with hire cars.
Hope your accounts go better for you - give yourself a little treat today to cheer yourself up a bit...? Big hugs.
