I applied directly and the case went to underwriters on the 15th oct, I called up today for an update and was told, they are reviewing cases up until the 15th oct so I should hear something by the end of the week and if all is ok with the lending side thats when they will book in the valuation. Fingers crossed they don't have any additional questions.
If you applied directly they definitely are reviewing cases submitted up until the 15th Oct as I got my additional information request from the underwriters today
  • Still waiting, haven't heard any updates for weeks other than it is sitting in the underwriters queue.
Applied 29/08, valuation done 04/09, went to underwriters on 24/09 and nothing since.
I see on their website the queue is on the 22/09, so hope for update by end of week but wouldn't be surprised if it's nothing again.
The queue went to 25/09 and we didn't get any update, despite going to queue on 24th! MB is chasing them for an update. Was so hopeful to hear something before weekend. Finishing week 8.

That’s just a crazy timeline. We’re getting chased from all corners about everything, they can all sod off haha! Hey your MB to pull their weight!!
  • I have just checked my credit report and no hard search as been done as of yet even though my application has been passed to underwriting. Has this happened to anyone else? Thanks x
  • Very confused by our timeline so far  :D
Applied on the 12th, got a message on the 13th saying it's been approved by the underwriters (which seems ridiculously quick), but nothing since regarding valuation etc. Applied directly with the bank.

Slightly OT but I've searched MSE and can't see a recent thread about this issue and it may affect many of you too. Our conveyancer told me that our local searches aren't due back until 17 Dec! They were ordered 3 weeks ago! And our EA told me yesterday our buyers are waiting for the survey to be done on ours (booked for 6 Nov) before paying for them so by that time scale and with Christmas closures they probably won't come back on ours until at least mid Feb! Same LA, LB of Havering. I believe Santander will accept personal searches as long as they're regulated so am minded to pay for that but are they really much quicker? And our buyers/sellers need to be willing to pay too otherwise there's no point. Have any of you done this and have experiences to share?
I know COVID has presented many challenges and the housing market is very lively atm but how many house transactions have fallen through because of this, especially with the stamp duty deadline looming. It's ridiculous a paid service should take so long.

Our EA told us that they are taking 55 working days to come through in Waltham Forest. Not quite as bad as your scenario but still pretty ridiculous.

Wow, I had no idea it was taking quite that long. I found this page which shows the latest turnaround times for Local Authority searches as of 21/10. Thank goodness, mine is supposed to be 8 days, but West Berkshire is apparently 65 days (working?) and Stratford on Avon 55. Shocking!

I wouldn't put too much faith in that as it says 20 days for Havering, same as what it says on their own website. My FILs exchange was delayed waiting for the searches to come back but luckily we were able to complete on the original date. I'm going to call our conveyancer tomorrow to get their advice on personal searches, as long as the mortgage company accept them they should be sufficient
  • Hello, joining this thread as my mortgage application was submitted by my broker on Friday 23rd Oct. looks like a soft search was done yesterday, Sat 24th.

I had a look at the link above and couldn’t find my local authority, is the list not complete? I’m in Surrey.

also wondering if the broker route seems quicker than the direct application. I found the idea of a 2 hour application over the phone as too much hard word. But wondering if that would have sped things up.

Lastly I’m already an existing customer and wondered if my track record on my mortgage for 7 years helps?

Thanks and hope this journey runs smoothly for you all.
