Santander mortgage timeline

Thank you for your reply. Yea Iv also been following for a few weeks now and looked at your comments a few times and just thought bloody hell at 8 weeks. Iv managed today to get a letter from my solictor for them to escalate it as we have until next Friday to exchange contracts or we are going to lose our house. We are both employed and are putting down 35% deposit. I just thought being existing customers it would of flown through but like you say there are definitely mixed cases. Glad you got your offer what a reliefnewhomechris said:
Hi. I know all too well what a worrying time this can be. Hopefully you will be comforted by the fact that my application took 8 weeks to go to offer - my application went in on 24th August and I got confirmation in writing from Santander on 12th October that my offer had been issued. I’ve been following this thread for the last 8 weeks and there has been a mixed bag of timelines but it seems to me that the general trend has been for it to take a bit longer lately.on_the_move121 said:Can anyone help. Me and my partner applied for mortgage with Santander via broker on the 1st September went to underwriters on the 4th and we joined the long que, we are existing customers who are porting mortgage but borrowing more. Underwriter had a question about Payment holiday on the 28th then another question on the 5th Oct about having different name as recently got married both easy questions. My broker tells me that valuation and income both been signed off. We have been waiting 8 working days now for underwriting to satisfy last question. Any idea how long the next stage is the wait is making us both so anxious! We chase the broker daily but he has the same answer he is awaiting underwriter to satisfy the last question. Week 7 on MondayHopefully they have got everything they need now and you will get your offer next week 😁0 -
Thanks - my case is really simple so there should never have been any delays but I think they are being extra cautious in these awful times. From what I’ve seen, it’s not made loads of difference whether you’re an existing customer or not. I really hope you get good news 😁on_the_move121 said:

Just to confirm i got the full amount. Didn't have any direct questions but broker literally trawled through every little thing before applying, so think that helped. Worth every penny.monetxchange said:
I'm still waiting to hear on the details of the offer as I think my broker is off today annoyingly.IMsaver said:
Congrats! I remember you saying you were self employed and took SEISS, did they give you the full mortgage offer amount you requested? I keep hearing if you took the SEISS, they say your latest year earnings are whatever the help was (which is ridiculous!) My partner hasn't even used it so is happy to give back if it's an issue.monetxchange said:
Ah great, that's reassuring.xNaomi said:
Congratulations! We had this and a text then our broker sent the offer document over a few hours latermonetxchange said:Got my email 20 minutes ago saying "we're pleased to issue your offer", but then no info is attached! Assuming it's been forwarded to my broker. Have emailed him but bet I've missed him for the day. Now an evening of worry that they haven't offered the full amount!
Weird that I didn't have any questions as I'm self employed and took SEISS, but broker was very thorough and I assume he sent them everything beforehand. Only just noticed the hard search was done on day of application, 10 September.
But I took both SEISS payments, but then showed pretty healthy profits from the other months following so it can happen. Though I am doing 40% equity loan and a 12% deposit, so only actually asking for 48% mortgage, so I think that helps balance out their perceived negatives a bit.
Like others have said, it's total mixed bag of timelines here. Mine was from 10 September to 13 October. Haven't seen the flat since August, struggling to picture what I've actually bought 😂Debt Free: 06/03/2020 Highest Debt: £37,5141 -
I was just wondering how long you waited from last question to when you found out it went to offer I’m on day 9 now from when I sent back last response and it still says it’s with underwriters. Surely all they have to do is satisfy and go to offer.newhomechris said:

There is no rhyme or reason to how they handle all this. Last week (week 8) I had questions about how my bonuses work and it was taking two days or more for them to respond but due to how close I was to running out of time, my broker asked the Santander rep to get my case escalated. They looked at it the next morning and confirmed it had passed underwriting - I got my offer the next working day.on_the_move121 said:

It seems that they don’t even look at the valuation until after it has passed the underwriting checks so even if your valuation was done in week 1 like mine was, if there is a problem with the valuation that might not be flagged up until the last minute. Fingers crossed for you. This has been the most stressful time of my life!!!!!0 -

just seems mad that we havnt heard anything off them for 9 days now. My broker said that the valuation and income have both been satisfied so I don’t see why it hasn’t gone to offer or any more questions0 -
Hi all,

We had some questions about COVID straight after applying, my OH has also had to submit a form which his accounts filled out but other than that we haven’t heard anything yet! Our broker was very thorough so I’m assuming if they do ask anything else our broker will hopefully have the answers already!
Haven’t heard anything about the valuation yet but going off the timelines on Santander’s website I am going to guess it will be a while.0 -
Was your application fairly straight forward I’m guessing?xNaomi said:
