Just had a text to confirm mortgage fully approved following completion of valuation. They say they've sent the offer details direct to our solicitor and a copy will follow for us, so I have to assume this means for the full original amount but will confirm once the paperwork is here (Doesn't appear to be downloadable from their online portal right this minute).

That was roughly a week from full application to full approval w/ minimal documentation required - Overall really pleased with how it went for us, hope others will hear today too especially those that have been waiting much longer than us....hang in there!

Some progress today but annoying! MB contacted to query a debit to NEXT for £250 the underwriters thought it was a NEXT account with debt on I said no it’s a debit. Can’t they see this on credit file that there’s no account? and the fact it’s not a direct debit? We don’t have any debt other than mortgage and car finance.
Suppose they could think you were possibly paying it for somebody else like a child or relative so that wouldn't show on your file.

I find it weird they ask some people for bank statements and not others. Doesn't seem to be a pattern to it even.

I chased up and called them again yesterday. Apparantly there was a techical error with our offer, and they were trying to sort it!
Today had an automated update saying its been approved pending valuation... even though its already had the valuation. They said they would give me a courtesy call today but not heard anything. Really dont know if i can be bothered to sit on hold again to not be given any further update .

If you're going direct have you tried the online messaging system? I've had good luck getting coherent responses through that but it has taken between 12 to 24 hours

    Hi.

    Quick timeline.

08.04 - Application sent along with payslips and bank statements. Hard search carried out.
    12.04 - Valuation instructed for 22.04.
    14.04 - Passed to underwriters.

All seems to be going smoothly so far and no requests for any extra documents. I can see by the website that Santander are working on applications passed to the underwriters yesterday. Does anyone know how long the underwriting process takes?

All seems very quiet from both broker and Santander - not sure if this is good or bad but the waiting is awful !

Finally sorted it! Issue was resolved. Mortgage offer complete, they said they will fax it to our solicitor so that we dont have to wait for the postage.
Good luck to everyone else and I hope you dont have to wait too long!
  • Hi all ,
Just got an email from Santander that they offered me the mortgage.

Before I got the DIP I have submitted 12months of payslips , and a letter from my employer ( railway ) to my mortgage broker , because my contract  doesn’t match up with the pay on my payslips.
She haven’t requested anything further at all.

    Purchase price : £230 000
    deposit : £185 000

So it’s a really low mortgage , and my yearly wage covered it. Not too sure why it has taken them such a long time , but I’ve got it :)

18.03 : house viewed and offer accepted
21.03 : DIP received from mortgage broker
23.03 :  Memorandum of sale paper received from solicitors
28.03 : paperwork submitted to Santander , also soft search appeared on credit report.
19.04: mortgage offered ( got an email ).

Not too sure what’s the next steps are. But I’m really happy that I’ve got it now :)

    Good luck everyone.

    Hi all,

Interesting thread, so many mixed processes going on.

I had to change the property I was initially going for as the EWS1 came back as B2 and no bank will lend on such.

I had my mortgage broker change the property via a substitute property form on the 13th of April (a week today).

Yesterday I was told the case was back at underwriters due to increases borrowing (10,000 extra).

Does anyone know how long they will take to agree it all and instruct the survey?
