Distribution Network Operator, the first thing on the list when you Google 'DNO' :)
They are responsible for the wires and routing energy to you, they maintain a list of which energy supplier is responsible for which metered location.

I'm aware of their existence and function, as that reference point is part of Supplier Switching 101. I'd just never heard the term DNO before. Gotta love jargon...

Google isn't necessarily the first port of call for everyone. Especially if you don't want to be tracked.

Neon Reef and Utility Warehouse are still offering cheaper-than-price-cap rates via Cheap Energy Club, surely they are both teetering on the edge as a result?
For starters, to get its cheapest tariff you have to sign up for their broadband and SIM too.
Value Energy/Variable rate tariff cheaper than price cap can be ordered without signing up for their broadband and SIM too.

  • I note that Mr Kwarteng is adopting something of a low profile, to say the least.

I'm surprised he hasn't volunteered for a different post - Minister for vaccines perhaps ??

Interesting to note that, as per today's Ofgem bulletin, despite the current climate (pun intended), there are still companies out there applying for energy supply licences, namely Alaska Energy Ltd, registered in Leicester.
Hmm, yet another energy company named after a US state, to go along with Colorado Energy (now bust), Mississippi Energy, Idaho Energy and all the other Dyball Associates companies (which include Neon Reef - previously Oregon Energy).
But I'm sure you noticed that, which is why we're discussing it in the Neon Reef thread :)
    N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.
    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.
Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.

  • Obviously...plus it's my favourite thread.

Actually, is there a general energy thread for making general comments, rather than about specific suppliers or other things? I can't say I'm aware of one.

And of course Leicester is not very far away from where Avro were HQ'd.
