Try as I might, at my age, I always have to do a double take to remind myself that a long remembered business that used to be a monopoly  called British GAS is supplying my electricity and not my gas.

Movement on my BG account - but no explanations ! The mystery balance "debit at end of contract" figure has increased by ~ £20 and at the same time the first bill from 1st Feb has been withdrawn.
I can only assume that they are about to incorporate either the NR debit or the missing days debit or perhaps both !!
I requested an up to date bill on chat this morning (as they are supposed to be billing monthly seeing as I'm on variable DD but of course haven't been).  Can't see the detail of the bill yet but can see the total and it seems to be correct for the period from last bill up to meter reading last night in line with my records (and the balance has moved by the amount of the bill only) so no sign of the NR debit balance appearing on my account yet or any charge for the gap between SOLR date and first bill start date.

Hi, I've post before on this thread.  I'm a NR casualty moved over to BG back in late Nov on to the Standard Variable tariff (I was emailed the tariff at the time: elec only - 20.871p per kWh valid til 31st July 2022).  Due to the general uncertainty, I did nothing and did NOT set up my BG account, and cancelled my NR DD.  Recently, I called BG, waited 30 mins but eventually got through. (I wanted to sort out the account mess and maybe even get a move on to 'Exclusive Fix Nov 2023').  After explaining everything to one person, I was put then through to 'referrals' UK call centre.  I explained the whole situation and the referrals lady checked my account information.  She then gave me the odd response that 'BG don't supply my energy but I could set up a new account now'.  So, I'm currently getting free elec??  Joking aside, what should I do?  This could come back on me?

Repayment of credits seems to be a mess.  I have been transfered to British Gas electricity from Neon Reef, and also transfered from Bristol Energy Gas to British Gas.

I have received a what I assume is meant to be a final bill from Bristol Energy, but there is a gap (in my favour) in the usage and standing charges between that bill and the first British Gas bill.  British Gas have used the reading I have provided - Bristol Energy have ignored my readings and estimated a lower reading.  I owe Bristol Energy a small amount.

Not withstandin the above, I have a credit on my Bristish Gas account, from my "previous gas supplier", which I  can only assume has come from Neon Reef.  It is slightly short of the credit on my last Neon Reef bill.  As others have commented I have received no finall bill from Neon Reef, but British Gas are not using my supplied reading, but the reading on my last bill, which means I am paying for Neon Reef electricity at British Gas prices.  This is partially ofset by a gap in the standing charges. So I can only assume Neon Reef will not supply any close of account paperwork.

    What a mess....

For everyone who's had NR energy billed at British Gas prices, if you know your opening meter reading you can just contact them on chat, give them the reading and all your existing bills will be cancelled and replaced. All you need to tell them is that the opening reading is wrong, and give them the right one.

Managed to get £60 credit today for 2nd complaint about misleading Welcome tariff - got the guy up from £20 but sensed that he had reached his limit and was willing to let me go to Ombudsman, so better than a kick in the head anyway !!

Yup, my electricity is now supplied by British Gas & my gas by the UK arm of Electricite de France (who I see are on for a loss of 8 billion euros this year due to the French government capping price rises to 4%)...  :o

Check that BG are showing as your supplier on the national databases:
Then, assuming they are, call them again and hope you get one of the brighter CS agents this time.

BG now shows a very big positive balance having cancelled the 1st Feb bill BUT they are urging me to increase my DD - again no back up reasoning to it, so not doing it til they get themselves sorted !!!
