Clearly not much loose change kicking about these days! (I blame plastic!) it's down to the financial crisis
recently found a penny - whey-hey!
When in Ireland found a 1 cent piece- not sure these are even legal tender now as if you pay in cash the change is either rounded up or down- legally! if you pay with plastic you pay the exact amount
I'll try not spend all that dosh at once.......Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Not quite a womble in the normal sense but I needed some change to pay for the weekly art class. It's £12 and I had a £10 note. So out comes the piggy bank (exactly that!) which I unplugged and scrounged about and got £2 and scurried off to be creative meanwhile leaving poor (!) piggy upside down on the dining room table. Came home a couple of hours later with my latest masterpieces and thought I better tuck the pig back where it belongs. Cork in it's belly and picked up all the coins on the table and fed them back in.
Except for a very small coin which turned out to be a Canadian dime. Handy as I'm flying to Toronto on Thursday. Not that 10c will buy much of anything - used to be a chocolate bar but now you're lucky to get one for much under $2.
For those womblers who find any Canadian coins do dispose of the pennies. They aren't used any more. So if a transaction costs $1.98, you pay $2. If it costs $2.02, you pay $2. It was weird the first time I came across this in a shop.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I must admit I'm finding less these days but I usually still do find some money once or twice per week, almost always when cycling in my case.5 -
An odd womble to report here, from last week - four small chard plants, masquerading as weeds, on the side of our road. They will have self-seeded over the fence from one of the neighbouring allotments. As the slugs had polished off my seedlings, I lifted these & popped them onto my plot, where the courgettes had keeled over & vacated some space. They've "taken" well and grown about 6" already - and the roadside verge got strimmed the very next day, so I do feel as if I've actually rescued them!Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)8
