It has to be cleaned about every other day with just one cat but with 2 it would need cleaning out every day which is more expense on litter and I hate the job as it gets everywhere YUK!

Why not get one of those trays that has a lid, no mess there :D

    Or even better thud.gif

Used to have one of the lidded litter trays , but the cats we had then didn't like it  Thinking of buying another one though to see if our present cats would use it.

We have 3 cats , all males. 1 tabby aged 15 , 1 black and white aged about 2 and his brother who's all black. We've mainly had 2 at a time in the past , but when our ginger tabby Angus got run over we went to see a woman who our local pet shop gave us the name of , who takes in unwanted cats and saw these two brothers and thought it would be nice for them to grow up together. It's worked out really well . Don't know what we'd do if Max or Paddy died , but if Bart (15 year old) died I don't think we'd get another cat.
Same old same old since 2008

Thanks for all the replies so far,it's been great reading them.

We are going on wed/thurs to look at the one for my mum so if I fall in love with any I may just bring them home too.

I don't think i could have more if they were indoor cats as they would be a bit underfoot all-day, also the litter tray tray issues, but mine go out half of the morn and then again before it gets dark and they are back home by 4/5ish in fact if they stay out after this I start shouting for them out the door:rolleyes2

The two we have were brilliant, haven't once made a mess anywhere other than litter tray so would be a shock if I get a messy one/two. Oh well will see what they are like when we go in week.

  • Just the one here. More than enough to cope with considering his constant attention seeking!

He is 18 months old now, and a farmyard rescue.

Here he is, not looking too impressed that I woke him up.......

We have 7, love them to distraction(even after last night when one decides she HAD to sleep under the duvet with us and Rupert slept a gread deal of the night in DH's arms:eek: . Honestly the cost isn't that bad, we get our cat food(James Wellbeloved) delivered free at a great price(also the litter) and to be honest they are worth every penny we spend on them. As for litter trays (currently have 9 on the go normally "only" 8) takes no time at all really. This is a fab thread really enjoy hearing about otjer peoples cats.

I have one cat who is 17 years old. She was born when I was 8, and came to live with me last summer when my parents got divorced and sold the family house.

I'm moving soon, not sure how well she will adjust, and she will be living at my boyfriends for 4 months while I work abroad. I hope she'll be ok.

I know this sounds really morbid but sometimes I panic about what I would do if I came home and found her dead. She is quite old and has a few health problems, seriously though, what would I do in that circumstance???
  • A year ago I had 4 cats but unfortunately 2 of them got killed in road accidents this year. My "naughty tortie" is 2 years and she is very much an outdoor cat, hates to be kept inside for long periods and shes set in her ways now.

My other is a 6 month british shorthair and he is 100% indoor cat so I only have 1 litter tray (hooded so he can't kick the litter outside!).

I would love another BSH though and am thinking of getting him a friend in the springtime (also to be kept indoors), if my house was bigger I'd have one of each colour!! They are a great breed of cat :)
  • We have 5 cats here, Mitz is 15, Tango is 14, Rags and Bones are 13 and Domino our latest rescue cat is about 7-8 I love them all very much.

They were very cheap to keep until they reached old age, these days we seem to know everyone who works at our vet surgery very well, I don't even need to say my name at the front desk they all know me!
We lost one of our cats last year suddenly and said we wouldn't get any more until our old bunch had all gone, then Domino appeared through the catflap, all beaten up and homeless... We couldn't resist him
