Old Style Weight Loss 2020 - Part 3

Thank you all for the welcome, and welcome the other newbies today. I am going to get a pedometer, just a cheapie one to clip on my trousers - this is because I do so little activity and while I love walking I have not done any for a few months, the only time I'm active is walking to the kitchen, bathroom or bedroom!!
I understand the minimum I can put down for a loss is 8lb, is that right? if so that's what I will start at and keep everything crossed, but to be honest a single pound will be a bonus.
Am a bit fed up with cooking today so will have the posh fish pie in the freezer for dinner and open a tin of fruit for afterwards. I have shopping tomorrow and have been online to remove all the chocolate
One question I can't find the answer to, do we weigh in on a Friday?

Thanks Brambling. I haven’t seen that programme, I’m still overseas so can’t watch uk tv.As I’m not quite 4ft 11 it’s not such a massive deficit in calories from my sedentary metabolic rate really and I’ve mainly stuck with gentler exercise so I do think it’s been easier for me than someone who does need the recommended 2000 calories a day. I followed it on and off last year too without the modifications I made this year and without giving up alcohol I don’t think for the full 12 weeks though. After getting through the first few days withdrawal I’ve not really needed willpower, I just don’t have much desire for the sugary stuff and I’m not missing the ravenous hunger I inevitably feel after eating it and the strong urge for more. I’m eating adequate fats, loads of non starchy veg and moderate protein, OH often comments on the size of my plate. I’ve not been able to do the time restricted eating though as I’m still enjoying a small amount of chocolate in the evening for the flavour and melty sensation, not enough to set of those cravings off though.Old Style Weight Loss Challenge 2025

You can weigh in any day you choose to, Brambling does a great job checking and updating the chart during the week. I’m sure there isn’t a minimum amount you need to put as a goal so if you want to go with less/ more than 8lbs its entirely up to you and whatever you are comfortable with.Old Style Weight Loss Challenge 2025

Welcome to all the new members!
Hanert I had some similar bad habits. Sandwiches for lunch when at work and I just couldn't resist ice cream, chocolate, nachos... They taste so good!! When I started counting calories I realised that bread has so many more calories compared to the filling, I just cut it down. I order food when I am not hungry and I stopped buying sweets (well, I do have some ice cream and biscuits at home, but not much), so I am forced to eat what I have at home, fruits, cooked food, etc.

Hanert the others will confirm I don't run a very tight ship here, I have only one rule which is be kind to yourself as well as to others. You can set whatever target you want or if you just want to post you don't have to do that. You can also weigh in on a day to suit you and I'll pick it up when reading the posts please highlight in bold if you remember so I can see it easier. I miss someone at least once a quarter so poke me if I miss a WI
I'll add you with a 5lb target which is what I have added the other new posters and let me know if you want me to change it.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin7 -
Todays food was..
Vegeburger, wholemeal roll, apples.
Ham butty. Grapes.
An unusually successful omelette.
And I didnt have the lager or bar of chocolate that was pressed on me, so yay for that!6 -
Please may I join you, from Monday?
It’s fair to say that everything has gone pear shaped this year (not least my silhouette!) so I’ll weigh on Monday, get over the shock, then make a start.
I’ve basically cooked my way through lockdown...8 -
Oops made my breakfast in the evening mistake last night - yoghurt w granola - quite a feast, so am skipping breakfast this morning and will go straight to a cooked brunch after a spot of exercise.
Will report back later on exercise will be 6x1 mile, 2x5k or 10 x 1k (all the same 10 k in the end. I have signed up for running a timed virtual club 10k in September so am practicing for that.)Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Goodness, Brambling's recruitment drive is going well. Frith I can relate to the cooking through lockdown scenario. I am also a great hoarded so have well stocked cupboards and there is only me to eat it all.
However, guess what? I have lost my customary pound, so..........fanfare please trumpeter........
I can report a - 1lb off, please Brambling.
And I think that has reached my target for this challenge. I will now be trying to bank some more losses before the start of the next challenge.
Feeling smug.

well done monnagran on reaching your quarterly target.
Hi To Frith. I was too lazy to cook I just ate potato waffles with beans, cheese and fried egg everyday during lockdown and gained all the weight back I’d lost last year in a few months.Old Style Weight Loss Challenge 2025
